I looked across the hall, wondering where he was. Clary had just introduced her new rune to the Clave, and I wanted him to be my partner. I didn't know what I would do if he died in the battle and I couldn't be there. Not that I wanted him to die, of course. I just wanted to do everything I could to prevent him from dying. By the Angel, this was driving me nuts!
I scanned the room again, wondering how he disappeared so fast. I saw my sister and decided to ask her if she saw him.
" Iz! Have you seen Magnus?" I asked.
"Last I saw him, he was standing by the door." She answered. I was still rather unnerved by the vision I had seen. When Clary showed the rune that made you see the person you loved most, I saw him. Then I saw the real him standing in the doorway. That vision was what had made up my mind.
Fuck! Where the hell is he? I thought to myself. "Wait, is that him?" I asked.
"Alec, that is a girl. In fact, it's that werewolf girl. What's her name? May?" Izzy said.
"Maia." Simon said.
"Whatever."
I spotted Magnus standing in the shadows on the other side of the Hall. "There he is." I said, then started off towards him without even saying goodbye to Simon or Izzy.
I walked all the way over to him, and he smiled when he saw me.
"Hey." He said.
"Hi." I said, rather shyly. I couldn't lose my nerve now.
"Iwaswonderingifyouwouldbemyp artner?" I asked all in one breath.
"Um, what was that?" he asked, with a smirk on his beautiful face.
""I was wondering if you would be my partner?" I showed him the new Binding rune on the back of my hand.
"I thought you'd never ask." He said, smiling softly and offering me his hand. I drew the exact replica of my rune on the back of his hand, smiling to myself.
I stood up, but I didn't release his hand just yet. A look of confusion crossed his beautiful face, and I just smiled at him. I released his hand, still smiling.
Its now or never, Lightwood. I thought to myself. Time to grow some balls and do it!
I grabbed Magnus's hand to prevent him from walking away. I slid my hand up his arm, holding it on the side of his face. I placed my hand on his other cheek, and leaned up. I kissed him, full on the mouth, in front of my family, friends, my entire race, and everyone else in the Hall. I could hear the whispers, gasps, and sounds of shock and disgust, but none of that mattered to me. All that mattered was the fact that I was kissing the man I love in front of everyone and I wasn't scared or ashamed.
When I pulled away, I smiled at him. He looked shocked, but in a good way. I intertwined our fingers together and whispered, "I love you."
His face lit up and he whispered back, "I love you, too."
