Most days you could find Wolf staring out the window that views Luna. Or sitting around eating a can of tomatoes. But you could mostly find him lying in Scarlet's bed, burying his head into its covers. He's mostly quiet and he usually isolates himself from the rest of the crew. He only lets himself out during meals or when they have a mission to go on.
But ever since they've kidnapped Emperor Kai, ruler of the Commonwealth, their mission has reached the next stage: travel to Luna and announce to the Lunars that Cinder was Princess Selene and was the rightful ruler of Luna; prevent a war between Earth and Luna; rescue Scarlet. Ever since he has been informed that they were traveling to Luna, he has been training nonstop, determined to rescue his Alpha.
Chapter 1: Healing
Wolf's POV
"C'mon Cinder, let's train," I yelled. I've never felt more anxious in my entire life. My fingers were fidgeting more than usual and I couldn't stand in place for too long. I wasn't the same Wolf that everyone saw me about a week ago. Now I'm back to my regular old self. And I have never felt more determined in my life. Ever since Thaumaturge Mira has kidnapped Scarlet, I was in depression. She was my alpha, and she was possibly the only thing that can keep me sane and happy. That's why I have been training so hard lately, because I am this close to seeing my Scarlet again.
"Wolf," Cinder said, walking out of her cabin. "It's 5 a.m. You need to get some sleep!"
"I don't need sleep. What I need right now is training." Silence followed. Then, slowly, Cinder walked across the hallway and stopped, right in front of Wolf.
"Wolf," she said, "is this about Scarlet?" I hesitated a little before I replied.
"A little bit." I didn't want to admit that it was entirely about her, but I know Cinder can tell I was lying.
"That's what I thought. Follow me." She gestured toward her cabin and I followed. She sat down on her bed and patted the space next to her. "Sit." I did what I was told. Lately, she's been noticing my strange behavior and is always trying to find the opportunity to talk to me. Cinder is basically like an older sister to me.
"Listen Wolf, I know how it feels like to have someone you love to be taken away from you. It happened to me, too. But you have to understand that pressuring me and the others isn't going to do us any good. We have all seen your anger and you need to learn how to cope with it." I just nodded. "What I'm trying to tell you is that you will see Scarlet again, I swear, and that you have been through much tougher opponents that you don't need to train. If there is anyone else who should be training, it should be me. So why not just take a break and let me handle it from now on."
"But I need to train."
"Why? Look, Wolf the more you train, the more dangerous you get. What if a thaumaturge tries to manipulate you again? You'll kill all of us in seconds. And I don't know if I can try and take control over a thaumaturge again. What will you rather have? A slight chance of being able to resist their control, or be controlled and kill us all. Think about it." She paused before saying, "You could leave now."
I exited and headed to my cabin, to moved by the conversation I just had with Cinder. It did make sense, though. I lied down on my bunk and closed my eyes, thinking about why I had to be like this.
