Author's Note: Hey all. I was in a sonnet-writing mood again, and once more this was not an assignment for class. I'm just a wee-bit Shakespeare-happy.
And to all of my MotN readers (if any of you are still around), Chapter Nine should be coming within the next few weeks. I've already got it over 7,000 words and it'll probably end up at about 10,000 total. So I hope that that'll be some sort of penance for making you all wait so long. Anyway, here it is…
Sonnet of the Sea
When I lie trembling, tossed about the sea,
As torrents flooding up my soul increase,
And when through blurry eyes black sails I see,
A feeling of despair dispels my peace.
The rushing waves of spume upend my limbs,
And further do I feel the sucking drain
Of sufferings and cyclones' curse within
That squeezes out life's joys 'til black remains.
But then I feel your presence at my side
And let myself be pulled to your embrace;
The gaping hole seems not to be so wide,
My only vision your determined face.
For I know you will not let pain take form
When I'm with you, my rock amidst the storm.
