Don't Dwell on the Past

Ginny Potter slipped out of her house unnoticed. The family reumion was being held, and it was painful to not see Harry laughing happily. She walked through the silent garden. The sun was setting and Harry had always said the clouds weren't nearly as pretty as she.

God, I miss him.

She quickly made her way to the spot she was seeking. It was a family reuniun after all and she needed to be with her husband. In the middle of the lilies was a single solitary grave. She looked at it and sobs escaped her. She read it for what seemed like the millionth time:

Harry James Potter

We shall never forget the boy
Who went through challenging ordeals throughout his life
From the time his parents died saving him
A burden he didn't want was now upon him
He was physically and emotionally scarred for life
With no parents to turn to he faced dangerous adventures
He had life-long friends, and people he could look up to and admire
From his first year to his last, his friends stuck by him no matter what
One day he faced a challenge, alone
No one could've helped him
This boy meant everything to us
He spent his life fighting for a great cause
Remember Harry Potter
He sacrificed his life for us
Remember The Boy Who Defeated The Dark Lord

She sat down on the bench, tears flowing freely. She had written what was on the grave; the grave of her true love. She had become a writer, she wrote poetry. She used it now to release the emotions and feelings she had in her. It was her way of soothing herself. Ever since Harry had gone off to fight, she had been scared witless. Her poetry now held more meaning and purpose. She remembered one of their last moments together.

"Ginny, I have to." he insisted.

"No! Please don't leave me!" she begged. He shook his head. He kissed her one last time with as much passion and love as possible.

"You know this is a battle I must face by myself. I want you to protect our daughter. Promise me you won't go after me," he commanded. She nodded.

"Promise me you'll come back," she pleaded.

"Tell Alexia all about me." he indicated Ginny's large stomach.

"I will. I'll love you forever, Harry."

"I'll love you longer, Virginia." He Disapparated leaving her alone.

He was gone for a month before anyone heard any news. Dumbledore had told her that he defeated Voldemort, but there had been no hope of finding Harry. Even Dumbledore didn't really know what exactly happened between them. She had been devasated and hoped it was a big mistake and he'd appear at her front door one day. She keep to herself and didn't talk to anyone. Her poems and stories consoled her. They gave her a way to occupy herself. Only when Alexia was born did she finally realize that Harry would've hated to see her like that.

Fresh tears escaped her. She still had not gotten over the fact that he was not coming back. She would often wake up expecting to find him next to her in bed, but he wouldn't be there. She put the rose she had been holding in front of the grave.

"I love you, Harry." she murmured quietly. She felt her daughter's small hand slip in hers.

"Mummy, what's wrong?" the little seven-year-old asked.

Ginny smiled through her tears, "Nothing. Come on, let's get back inside."

The End?
