A/N: I'm once again writing for Nine Lives! I had fun last time so I decided to just get my ideas out in a one-shot. This will NOT be continued. It's just my ideas on what might happen in tonight's episode based on the promos. This is in the scene where Alek looks hurt with marks all over his face.

"If anything had happened to you, I couldn't live with myself" Alek said staring into Chloe's eyes.
"Alek, you don't always have to be the hero of the story. There's room for more than one." Chloe spoke softly while shaking her head slightly.
"You really don't understand, do you?" Alek muttered. He looked down and sighed. "I'll always be there to be your hero. Protecting you isn't just a job. It's something I feel obligated to do. I couldn't bear it if you were to be hurt or lose another of your lives." With that said, Alek looked away and at the dimming sun.
Chloe looked on at him in confusion. She could never quite understand why he seemed to care so much about her and it drove him up the wall. "How can you care so much? How is it that being my protector isn't just a job? What makes me so special? It can't just be my being the Uniter, so why is it?" Chloe prodded.
Once again, he sighed. He turned back to her and gave her a long stare before finally replying. "If I were to tell you, I'm not sure how you'd react. It might not be something you'd want to hear."
She gave him a hard look. "If you won't tell me, then show me. I wanna know and I want to know now."
"Fine. Close your eyes." He commanded.
"Why do I need to close my" She was cut off.
"Just do it." He said just above a whisper. Chloe complied and was just about to speak when Alek's lips were pressed against hers. They were soft, gentle, and hesitant.
Chloe made no move to push him away or deepen the kiss due to shock. Before she knew it, his lips were gone and when she finally fluttered her eyelashes open once more, he was gone. In the distance, she could see a figure but was too dazed to wonder if it was him. In silence, she went home and in her dreams, she saw nothing. She saw only the darkness that was seen behind her eyelids after Alek had kissed her.
A/N: And there you have my second Nine Lives story! Hope you liked it! I'm really looking forward to the episode tonight! =D I wanted to make this dramatic but not too unrealistic. If Alek seems a little OOC, it's because in this he's in protector mode and I'm guessing based on the promos that he just realized his feelings for Chloe. Please review! Reviews mean more one-shots!
