It was peaceful in Pixie Hollow. The sun glowed bright, but the light fairies helped in order to assure that it wasn't a hot day. There were a few clouds in the otherwise clear sky. Fairies darted back and forth preparing the kingdom hastily for the upcoming event. Queen Clarion and Lord Milori's wedding.
Everything was settled. Lord Milori would still be known as Lord Milori, but maybe with a higher authority than usual, whatever that meant, winter and warm fairies would no longer be segregated like before, and most everyone got along, so the marriage between the two wasn't very controversial. It seemed everyone was in love with the idea, except for one sparrow-man.
Among the adults, he was known as Hyacinth, and only among the adults was it known that he objected the marriage.
The pressure, placed on the couple to get the union done and over with was enough to get under anyone's wings. Not only did the couple have to look after preparations, but they still had to perform their duties as rulers.
Clarion needed a break. She had to get away.
The morning after she left, Milori found the letter next to his nightstand. It was wrapped in in a green leaf. Written on it was:
To: Milori
From: Clarion
He rose an eyebrow and unrolled the leaf, inside he found more of Clarion's loopy and delicate handwriting:
Dear Milori,
Don't be alarmed if you don't see me. I'll only be gone three days. I just needed a break from the constant "Wear this!" and "Do that!" nonsense. I've finished any pending tasks due by the end of the month. And if any new arrivals were to arrive, I'll be there. Don't worry. If anything, I'll be at Never Peak.
With Love,
Clarion
P.S. By the way, if you're asked to try on a loud, pink tuxedo. I was not involved in any of this. Rosetta requested it be done and there was no getting out of it.
Milori sighed, he rolled up the parchment and began his day.
