A poem about the ironic tragedy of Hohenheim's sons having gotten in trouble with alchemy, like he had. The last stanza contains mentions of how he must have felt in the moment between when Ed wouldn't let him get Al's body back and when Ed went and did it himself.

Xerxian Tragedy

.

A man from the land of Xerxes,

which lay in the driest of seas,

the fam'ly he craved

to face never braved,

because of undying disease.

.

Through Trickery made of cursed soul,

his heart was left filled a big hole.

And Life's sacred gift

his status did shift –

He'd not taint his boys with his role.

.

The children he'd left at home sound

Temptation soon surely had found.

For years he knew not

what trouble they'd brought,

for Life they around with had clowned.

.

That stain which he wouldn't pass on,

His sons he too now saw it don.

But, purged of his past,

their own marks would last.

His fatherly chance was long gone.
