Chapter: 1. Love at first Ice cream

A/n Spoilers on Ps or Ss. Oh, and to clear a few things up, in their third year, Hermione doesn't hit Draco, I know, but it just goes with the story more, and she's only being mean because of Harry and Ron, he knows this.
11 year old Hermione Granger entered the Diagon Ally Ice cream shop. She ordered her ice cream, and then went to go find a table outside. There was only room at one, and the other person was a silver-blond haired boy. "Can I sit here?" She asked. He looked up from his book. "Oh, sure." She smiled and sat down. There was an awkward silence, which the boy broke by introducing himself. "I'm Draco Malfoy." "I'm Hermione Granger." They smiled at each other. There was another silence, this time broken by a lady, who looked to be the boy's mother. "Draco, dear, we must be off now." She noticed Hermione. "Oh, I'm Narcissa, Draco's mother." She turned to Draco. "You finally met a girl. Well, come on then, let's go, we don't want to keep your father waiting." Draco nodded. "Just a minute, mother." Narcissa nodded and left, heading for the Leaky Cauldron. Draco rolled his eyes. "Parents, so embarrassing." She smiled. "Mine aren't embarrassing, just boring." He nodded. He looked over at her bags; a book had fallen out of one. They both reached down to pick it up and Draco got it. He looked at the title as he handed it to her. "Oh, you go to Hogwarts?" "Just starting, actually." He smiled. "Well, so am I." He stood up. "I guess I'll see you there, Hermione." She nodded and he left.
On the Hogwarts Express
Hermione entered the Hogwarts express. She found an empty compartment and sat down, stowing her bags away. Draco knocked on the door. "May I sit here?" She smiled. "Sure." He entered and they sat in silence. A few minutes later another boy entered. "'Ello, I'm Neville, had anyone seen my toad?" Hermione shook her head, and so did Draco. Neville sighed. "Oh well, he'll show up." Hermione stood and looked to Draco. "I'm going to help him, do you mind?" Draco shook his head and pulled out a book. "Nope." Hermione then met Harry and Ron, didn't find Neville's toad, and went back to Draco. They sat in silence as the train came to a stop. She stood up, but couldn't pick up her bag. Draco took it for her and his own. She smiled. "Thanks." "No problem." They left the train and met Hagrid, who took them across to the school in the boats. They entered the school and Hermione stood near Draco. He went over to talk to Harry and Ron, she watched. Harry turned him down as a friend and he came back over to her. They were then sorted, Hermione in Gryffindor with Harry and Ron, and Draco in Slythern. They ate dinner then went to their common rooms. Hermione thought about Draco all night.
