Impossible Love
Roxas was confused.
This isn't a rare occurrence; he always seemed to have questions about something. And normally, it's not a problem. He would just go and ask Axel, they were friends after all. This time though, Axel was the reason why he was confused.
Namely, the confusion was from the red-head's avoidance of him.
If it had been anyone else, Roxas would have accepted all of the excuses without a thought and gone on with his life. As it was though, Roxas knew something had to be wrong. They hadn't gone out for sea-salt ice-cream for about a month! Well, Roxas still went and got it, he missed it too much. But he learned quickly that the missing person was the reason it tasted so good. He was starting to get lonely, and that was another thing he needed Axel for, was because he had so many questions since the development of avoidance!
He was a nobody, and by definition that meant that he didn't have a heart.
So why was he even feeling lonely, and missing Axel so much? Of course, with these types of questions Axel would brush him off, telling him not to ask such silly questions.
Roxas was starting to wonder if Axel didn't have the answers to that. A lot of the nobodies said that their 'emotions and personalities' came from what they could remember from their past life as a somebody. But what was Roxas' excuse? He couldn't remember anything besides some random flashbacks that he couldn't make any sense of.
As the questions piled up and his confusion grew, Roxas decided it was time to ask why his friend was being so unfriendly.
Roxas quickly found said red-head. Finding him had never been an issue, getting him to stay without running away seemed to be a different issue as of late. So Roxas did the only thing he could think of. As Axel was muttering something that Roxas couldn't care less about, he pounced.
Axel landed on the ground behind him with and, "oof!" as the air was literally knocked out of him and Roxas on top of him, sitting on his belly once he surmised that they weren't going to fall off the clock tower any time soon.
And before he could stop himself, Roxas yelled with so much emotion that he couldn't have coloring his voice, "Why have you been avoiding me, Axel!?"
Blushing immediately afterwards, from his lack of control, Roxas waited patiently for his answer, not moving from his perch incase Axel decided to bolt.
The red-head seemed shocked, "What are you talking abou-"
"I'm talking about you always running away from me and never seeming to care anymore!" Roxas couldn't really stop himself from yelling, but the next part came out quietly, a whisper, like he was afraid to know the answer, "Don't you want to be friends with me anymore?"
Axel was quiet for a few minutes, while he let his companion calm down. Then he carefully said what had been occupying his mind, "I think I love you, Rox."
Roxas turned his expressive blue eyes up to meet green; it was his turn to be shocked now. How could they love, they didn't even have hearts? But as he was gently pulled down into his first kiss, Roxas couldn't have cared.
He would revel in this impossible love for as long as possible. Even if it was just the wish for love between them, he would pretend all he could, for as long as Axel would want to keep him in his non-existent heart.
And as they lay there, softly kissing with the mid-day sun warming their bodies, Roxas could have sworn that he felt some tug deep in his chest.
