Hermione sat by her favorite tree in the midst of a warm spring day. Her plan had been to do the extra credit assignment on Giants and their views on war, given to her by Professor Binns, but she had gotten momentarily distracted. What may you ask could distract Hermione Granger from homework? It was nothing big like the Giant Squid that occupied the Black Lake, but a small blue flower. This particular flower caught her eye as she seated herself by the tree. At first, she only stared at it admiring its beauty. But then the desire to look at it more closely took over. She picked it from the lush green grass, and started twirling it between her fingers. As she twirled the dainty flower an idea came to her. A childish idea really but and idea at that. She started pulling the petals off one by one saying the common phrases, "He loves me, He loves me not." As she neared the last petal, someone came up behind her unnoticed. Hermione was so entranced with what she was doing she almost missed the person speak as a hand pulled the last petal off. "He loves you."
The Petals still felt soft, even after many years pressed in between the pages of Hogwarts, A History, they still felt like velvet. She took it as a sign that the love between her and her husband would last forever, still fresh and new. A smile appeared on her face, as she remembered that day. She had refused to leave until every petal was retrieved, and then had delicately set them in between the places of her favorite book. A sudden surge of warmth spread throughout her body as a set of arms wrapped themselves around her shoulders.
She looked up into the amused expression of her husband. "You still have those?" "Of course, and plus I'm a girl, we keep everything." Her husband only nodded and then turned her head to kiss her deeply. She loved the beauty of these moments, just the two of them in their favorite spot by the fire. Snuggled up on the couch, watching the brilliant blue flames dance about the logs. "He loves you," came the voice of her husband. "I love you too Harry."
