Title: Two Hands, One Heart

Author: Pandora North Star*

Rating: PG

Summary: A poetic piece of prose attempting to capture the moment in "Chosen" when Buffy and Spike held hands.

Two Hands, one heart. Up in flames. The world is burning down to the ground.

*Passion burns until it consumes. And then there is nothing left.*

There were nights of passion. Every minute, every way. Drowning kisses. Drowning darkness. A lusty blackness. We indulged in every whim and fantasy and as a fire burns down by morning so did our feelings.

The metaphor is not lost here. Burning together. One last moment of glory. We felt ecstasy in the battle cries, in the way we tore each other apart and came together for one. last. moment. of. glory.

Death was on your face, on the lips you shared such secretly painful words. Words given so scarcely and tossed backed so sadly. Who can resist the art of destruction? Not destructo girl.

Two hands, one heart. Shared for just one moment in time. A moment that stretched to eternity. We held our breath and prayed. He burned once, in the darkness. One smoky night against cold steel and faith. Now he burned in light with cold steel and magick pressed against him.

*I made a promise to a lady once.*

*We won't all make it.*

*Always knew I'd go down fighting.*

Is it written in the stars? Are we paying for some crime? Is that all that we are living for, just a stretch of mortal time?

She would live to see another day. Strength given. Passion for life, for living. An eternal flame to share, to keep away the darkness. Two hands, one heart, words got in the way of truth. Because the simple truth laid in the bared souls, touching, ignited by the ecstasy of heroism for all to see.
