Near stood outside in a graveyard looking down at the all to familiar 3 graves now he dint have the comforting and friendly L or the nagging yet caring mello or the idiotic funny carefree matt now he was the last wammy boy he was sued to be alone but.....this felt different its like a part of his soul had died along with them all and it hurt.
near didn't have friends he thought he didn't need them but he never noticed he had had friends all along and now that they were gone he realized he had them and it hurt now he wished he had just taken the damn time to notice what he had and now something matt said at the orphanage when they were younger came into his head.

An 8 year old near was siting on the ground with a puzzle while a 9 year old matt sat next to him "I swear near your like a robot you don't even look at the puzzle" he said chuckling "but there's something i don't get" he said "you say if you cant finish the puzzle your just a loser but you don't even look at the puzzle" he said matt looked at him and now near looked over "so" he said back "well how are you suppose to finish something if you don't pay attention to it" he said smiling.

"Matt its almost like you were telling me to pay attention to what was right in front of me" he said "maybe i was" matt's voice seemed to play in his head now something from L started to play in his head.

The 9 year old near looked up at the 19 year old L "yea know near its always nice to at least have one friend that way at least if at the end you don't succeed you always have something to go back to".

"L you were telling me that to" he said even something mello had told him came to mind.

8 year old near sat on the ground while 9 year old mello looked down at him "really near you could try to act like a human being once and awhile its not ganna hurt the chances of you winning you could try to at least have a small social life".

Near shook his head slowly disappointingly "i was so stupid you were all telling me to look in front of me and pay attention to the friends i had and enjoy them while i had the chance" he said he looked down "well looks like i lost that chance.....i ran out of time" he said his eyes started to water.
All these new emotions were washing over him tears started spilling over his eyes "i couldn't finish the puzzle" eh said in a watery voice he fell down to his knee's with his head hung "i guess I'm just a loser" he said.
"As much as i'd like to rub that in your face" and all to familiar voice came up near picked his head up only to see the ghostly figure looking at him of mello "its not true" he said L appeared as well "yea you didn't run out of time" he said matt appeared as well kneeling down with his hand on his shoulder "yea there's still time".
Near looked up at them with tears spilling over his eyes mello looked down at him "yea but right now you need to fulfill you job as the new L" he said matt looked at him "and we'll always be here" he smiled "you haven't lost all your friends yet" L looked at him "so when your done being L we'll all be waiting" he said near looked at them they all nodded near stood back up and wiped his eyes and looked up but widened his eyes no one was there.
He looked around no one he looked up at the gray sky
"so near don't look down.....but up".
