Prologue

I was running, running so fast that my hair was trailing behind me. Erasers were behind me, chasing me. I had gotten used to this dream, and though it was bad now, I didn't want it to stop. I was looking forward to the end, the part when I soar through the air, and snap out my wings. I ran, and ran, my feet thumping against the dirt, my heart racing. I was swerving in and out of the trees. However, it was somehow different. When I got to the cliff, I tripped on a rock before I got to the edge. I could feel my heart give a lurch. My ankle snapped, and I was sent face first to the ground. I looked up, and then at my ankle, to see if it was broken. Bursting pain was sent through my veins, and my head was throbbing. Then, I realized that the pain was not coming from my ankle. It was coming from me, inside me. I looked up. I could hear their booming footsteps as the enemy slowly got nearer, and nearer to their prey, the victim. The booming of the footsteps was soon the only thing I could hear, there was so many. They're coming for me. They all burst through the trees, and then in an instant, my fear melted completely.

It was Ella! Not one, but it looked like hundreds of Ellas. I was beyond relieved. I mean, who better than my half sister? " Thank goodness you are all here!" I said.

"I was running and running, but then I tripped, and I think I broke my ankle. But no worries because you showed up and-" I got cut off when I realized what they all looked like. Slowly, my fear began to return. The look in their eyes jolted the fear back into me. It was a look of pure hatred. I knew that the real Ella would never have that look. Then, one by one, they all began to morph.

Chapter One

And there I was. Sitting there, watching what seemed like millions of my sister, morph into wolves. My heart was pounding against my chest. Subconsciously, I thought it was a dream, but it seemed so real, that even deeper down into my mind, I knew it wasn't just a dream. I knew that imagining something so terrible would be crazy.

I could only think of one thing, "Get out of here before you get killed." Watching as they all were almost finished morphing. Get out of here. With my super strength and power, I pushed myself with my hands, back. And back some more. And back some more, until I was just on the ledge of the cliff.

Push yourself off. It was my Voice. What a time to show up. In the middle of something I was sure that was too bad to be true. I had an instant to think of what to do, because all of the Erasers/Ellas were fully morphed, and coming at me at full speed.

Just before I pushed myself off the edge, I wondered, who could I ever trust?

I was falling off the edge. I wasn't even right side up when I tumbled, and tumbled through the air. I tried with all my might to get my wings to snap open, but for the second time this same dream, I got the feeling that something was terribly wrong. I couldn't get my wings out. Falling, falling, falling, nothing to do, but to prepare myself for the arms of death waiting for me at the bottom.

I woke up screaming, and beads of sweat were making their way down my face. Fang, who was laying in a sleeping bag beside me, put his arm on my shoulder.

"Max, are you okay? Look, everything's fine. It was just a dream."
