Once in a Lifetime
"Hey."
Jack turned, startled, as he closed Kim's case file.
"Doin' OK?" Allison asked.
"Yeah," Jack sighed. "Yeah. Well, um, better than Henry," He continued.
"Yeah." Allison agreed.
"I just hope that he can, uh," he stumbled. "Forgive me."
Allison scoffed and then replied, " It was an accident, Carter, there's nothing you could have done."
Jack nods slightly, "Yeah, I keep telling myself that."
"Look I know it's hard to believe now, but things will get better." Allison sighed, then smiled, "You just have to have a little faith."
Jack returned her smile. "Allison, there's, um." He faltered.
"What?" she laughed out.
"Nothing." He whispered.
"Come on," She teased. "I'll let you buy me a cup of coffee."
"It's free," Jack countered.
"Oh," Allison started. "In that case, I'll buy." She finished as she started toward the door.
"You know," Jack said, causing her to turn. "I think this is defenatly becoming our thing."
"We don't have a thing." She said before sauntering out.
"We might." He said softly as he followed her out.
Little did they know, something was about to change Eureka in a big way.
Outside town, a small, silver sports car pulled to a stop at the boundry line. The driver looked out at the sign.
"Home, smart home."
