A/N- This was on my other account. I thought I'd move it. It is on hiatus. Enjoy!

She told them it would be a year. But, now it had been two and she had no plans to go home. It was just to painful. She hadn't spoken to anyone since she left. Daisy had gone home after a month. She couldn't stand being away from Sweets. She stayed. She felt at peace here, in Maluku, away from everything she could not only run and hide from her problems but, almost make them disappear as well.

Dr. Temperance Brennan had spent the entire day identifying ancient remains. It was what she loved to do. She walked down the path and back to her hut. As she walked in the door she put her handgun on the table. She was always armed never knowing whom or what she was going to meet in the jungle. Normally she wouldn't have bothered with such protective measures but she had promised HIM that she would stay safe. She sat down and powered up her Mac. In her inbox there was the daily email from Booth.

Special Agent Seeley Booth. Just his name could bring her to tears. He had confessed his love for her and she had made the worst mistake of her life. She had turned him down. They had both been unable to deal with the emotional fallout and had fled to opposite corners of the earth. He had rejoined the army and gone to Afganistan. Her to Maluku. He emailed her every day sometimes multiple times a day but, she never responded. It was easier for her this way. Having no contact with him made it easier for her to accept her mistake. Opposite of her he had returned after one year. She could imagine him at the coffee cart in front of the Reflecting Pool. His face when he realized she wasn't coming home. His disappointment that she hadn't kept her promise. She dreamt about him every night. She dreamt about seeing him again. Of the last time she saw him. But, more common were her nightmares, where he died and there was no way that she could save him.

The email was tagged as important. It was titled Engagement. She knew what it was about. Most of his other emails had been about Kara Chapel. Some girl he had met in Afaganistan who had supposedly "captured his heart". She didn't want to read it but, her curiosity got the better of her common sense.

Dear Bones,

I don't know if you are reading this. Hell, I don't even know it you're alive. I mean, would it hurt to send me an email now and then.

As you know I met Kara in Afganistan, I proposed to her last night. We don't know when we're getting married yet but, it won't be for a while. I don't even know if I can get married without you here. Please come home. I miss you. Angela misses you. Hodgins misses you. Cam misses you. Sweets misses you. Your Squinterns and Zach miss you. Even, Parker misses you. Angela had her second child. He eyes were fine as well. Her name is Temperance Camille Montenegro-Hodgins. We call her Tempe. Max called the other day. He's concerned so are Russ, Amy, and the girls. Oh, did I tell you Amy's expecting! She's due in December. They want you to go visit them. Pops is wondering what happened to you. I can't bring myself to tell him that you ran away. I need you here.

Love Always,

Booth

"I'm going home." Brennan said out loud. "But, first I'm going to Texas to see my family."
