This is a new story I've started. I know it's short but...oh well. I should be updating soon.

Lady Tyrant

Disclaimer: I only own the gilr and the plot.

A roll of thunder shook the lamp posts as Tseng's black car drove past. Rain slapped against the windshield as he continued home. No one strayed the dark, rain drenched streets anymore. The initial joy of rain, to end the drought, had dried up after the first week of nonstop rain. Now, in the middle of the third week, any enthusiasm that had come with the rain was gone.

With the rain, had come a huge list of missions for the Turks. These missions went form fixing the roof above the Rufus's office, to getting Shinra scientists' cars out of the mud. All of them consisted of the Turks standing around in the rain.

In the last two days, Tseng had developed a nasty cough and Rufus had ordered him to go home. When Tseng had resisted, Rufus threatened to have Reno be his nurse. That was more then enough to make Tseng leave the office.

Pulling up outside his small apartment, Tseng made a dash for his stairs, only to stop halfway up. He headed back down, having seen a dark shape, huddled in the corner where his stairs met the outside wall of his apartment. Approaching the offending object cautiously, he saw that it was breathing. Thinking it was a stray dog, he nudged it with his foot. To his surprise, it squeaked and sat up and Tseng found himself staring into a pair of very green, very human eyes.

The young girl stood, eyeing him warily. She looked about eight, maybe as old as Cloud and Tifa's son. "Are you alright?" he asked, only half expecting a response. The girl's eyes narrowed and her fists clenched.

"I'm soaking in the rain." She exploded. "I have no where to go and I haven't eaten for two days! You tell me if I'm alright!" She glared furiously at him, breathing heavily.

Tseng blinked at her, at a lost for what to say. He opened his mouth and gestured uselessly at his door. "If you want to come in I can get you something to eat and you can dry off." He said finally. She eyed him for a moment longer, before nodding and following him quietly into the apartment.

After closing the door, he looked down at her and noticed that she was carrying a hugely over sized trench coat. He took it from her and hung it on a hook by the door, before walking to his Kitchen. The girl watched in interest as Tseng rummaged through his fridge and cupboards, looking for something to make.

Suddenly, he was hit by a cough fit that let left him wheezing. Again he bent over cough violently, and when the coughs finally subsided, he found a small waving a glass of water in front of his face.

"You sit." The girl murmured "I can make something." Tseng obeyed, deciding it would be easier then arguing with the girl. In ten minutes she was handing him a bowl of chicken soup, made form baked chicken and mixed vegetable leftovers.

Once they had finished, Tseng showed her to his guest room before he showered and crawled into bed himself. Just as he was drifting off, a small figure wriggled under the blankets. Mumbling a sleepy good night, they both fell asleep.
