Since this is the first fic for Katie and Castor, I'd appreciate a small mention if you use them, thanks. ;)
Disclaimer: The Percy Jackson/Heroes of Olympus cast belongs to Rick Riordan, not to me.
Please enjoy this one-shot!

She wants an infinite amount of stars to make her wish come true. She wants to be just a little greedy. Just once.
This is the only time, just this once; please make my wish come true, she thinks as she sneaks a peek off to the side.
Yes, Castor is there beside her on the docks of Camp Half-Blood. He is unmoving yet arrogant with all the courage in the world. How she wishes she could tell all her secrets, desires, and dreams to him. His blonde hair catches and ruffles in the wind, and she struggles to look down at the water.
Katie is afraid of the water. She can see the sea nymphs, the shells, the kelp, and the colorful rocks that create the bottom of the lake. But the biggest reason she is afraid is because of conch shells.
It's a dream that always reappears: Katie is on the shores of the lake as she picks up a conch shell. She puts the red shell to her ear, and she hears not sounds of the ocean…
…but of war, of death, of tears, agony, and the death of a loved one. She doesn't want to believe it, but her gut tells her that he's going to go. Katie chokes up, trying to call out to him, but he loses her attention, as she always has failed to get it.
She wonders what's wrong with her. She questions herself as the sea nymphs below point at her and snicker, but she knows better and magically shakes the sea kelp to scare them. They shriek, and she laughs out loud.
"What's wrong, Katie? Are you okay?" His beautiful violet eyes look to her, but only for a second.
"C-Castor…," she manages to call out, and she grabs her brown hair in her nervousness. She remembers her dream again, of how it told her the future and of how she heard the screams of pain in the war. If only the sea nymphs would come back so she could forget it would ever happen. She wishes to tell of her dark secret, but she can't because…
He's about to take her hand, and her body shakes greatly. She's ready for this moment, for the kiss of a lifetime, for the sharing of secrets, dreams, and desires…
He stops as he hears a laugh from across the lake, and his heart is gone because it's in the look he gives to the girl laughing across the lake: Miranda Gardiner.
She's with Pollux, and Castor gives a grieved look as Miranda kisses his brother behind some low, visible shrubbery.
Katie wipes away a few tears, tries to send a few signals to Castor, but he doesn't see. She knows she'll never get that longing look, for his heart is across the lake…but, sadly, that loving heart will one day stop beating.

So here we have Kator. Miranda is in my head with Pollux, my OTP for them. I ship it bad. And I like the one-sided love these two characters have. I like the struggle, and how these two work like Pollux and Miranda do: She's a daughter of Demeter and he's a son of Dionysus. Earthly babies, anyone? ;) I feel for Katie, too, because Castor dies and she loses her love in the war. The feels, man. :')
Tell me what you think by leaving a review. ;)
