(In a world where Dumbledore doesn't die and Voldemort is killed in Harry's sixth year)
"Good morning everybody, before you start your breakfast please let me make an announcement." Dumbledore's wise voice boomed throughout the dining hall. "As most of you know, Easter Holidays are coming up. The Ministry of Magic have decided to make a surprise for anybody who won't be going home this year. We have decided to host the Golden Easter Snitch Tournament, generally known as the GES Tournament. Anybody can enter, but only in groups of 3. The winners will receive 9,000 galleons to divide between each other and will not have to attend the end of year exams. Obviously, if the winner really wants to attend the exam nobody will stop her... or he." Harry and Ron laughed and Harry was sure that he'd seen the Headmaster wink towards Hermione. "All the rules will follow later but for now, anyone who wants to enter should inform their Head of Houses as soon as possible." Dumbledore continued, "I see there are no other announcements this morning. Don't let me stop you from enjoying your breakfasts."
Ron turned around; he was grinning from ear to ear. "We have to join this tournament. Its going to be amazing!" Harry nodded. "Sure, why not? It's not like we have anything else to do during the holidays!" He turned to Hermione, "What do you think, want to join us? It is our seventh year, we should make it memorable!"
Hermione stopped eating and turned toward the two boys, "I think you guys forgot; but we have the exams this year. We have to study for them: they could change our careers in the Wizarding world!"
Ron sighed, "Have you even been listening: we won't have to join the exams if we win this tournament." Hermione shook her head "Yeah, but what happens if we lose. We'll lose precious time where we could have been using it to study for the exam. We'll never catch up with everybody else!"
"Maybe your tired from the studying so much; but I think you haven't realized that the exams are two or so months away. The tournament is going to happen during the Easter holidays and I'd like to remind you that nobody studies during the holidays anyway so you won't be behind, you'll probably be farther than anybody else!" Ron replied.
Hermione laughed, "Maybe you're right: okay I'm in!"
The first day of the GES Tournament arrived, more than 3/4 of the students had stayed in Hogwarts. 96 students (32 groups) had entered the tournament. All the participants were to have a meeting during lunch time in the Transfiguration classroom.
In fact, this was where the Golden Trio were walking to, they were all very excited and couldn't wait to start. In fact, Hermione had done some research and she had discovered that this tournament was extremely rare, the tournament only happened once every 100 years or so. The last winners were Dumbledore and his group! Legend stated that the winners of this tournament would become great wizards/witches that would be remembered forever in the magical world as a hero.
