~*~ My lover's gone ~*~

As dawn broke, Kurama opened his sleep-filled eyes. He reached over to wrap his arms around his lover, only to find the place beside him empty.

~*~ His boots no longer by my door ~*~

Just as the kitsune youkai had remembered, Hiei's cloak was missing from it's usual place on the chair beside Kurama's bed.

~*~ He left at dawn ~*~

Kurama smiled sadly, remembering what had happened a few weeks ago.

~*~ And as I slept I felt him go ~*~

And, Kurama knew that he wasn't coming back

~*~ Returns no more
I will not watch the ocean
My lover's gone
~*~

Small tears formed at the corners of the fox's forest green eyes, making them sparkle like the emeralds they appeared to be.

~*~ No earthly ships will ever bring him home again ~*~

"Onegai, Hiei," Kurama whispered into the early morning. "Onegai, don't leave me like this…"

~*~ Bring him home again ~*~

Meanwhile, Hiei sat in the boughs of a widespread sakura tree, watching Kurama..

~*~ My lover's gone ~*~

He slowly brought his fingers to his lips, remembering the kisses Kurama had given him weeks ago.

~*~ I know that kiss will be my last
No more his song
That tune upon his lips has passed
~*~

Kurama quietly sobbed to himself, thinking about none other than his one love, Hiei.

~*~ I sing alone While I watch the ocean~*~

Hiei shed a silent tear; the salty water hardening and turning to a Koorime tear gem.

~*~ My lover's gone~*~

"Ai shiteru," the fire Koorime whispered, letting the tear gem fall through his fingers.

~*~ No earthly ships will ever bring him home again ~*~

Kurama looked up to the sky, as if he knew that Hiei was watching over him.

~*~ Bring him home again ~*~

Then, Hiei spread his wings and fluttered off into the light.

~*~ My lover's gone ~*~

A few hours later, Kurama walked past the graveyard, and stopped at the door.

~*~ No earthly ships will ever bring him home again ~*~

He placed a black rose ontop of a solitary gravestone, shedding a few more tears.

~*~ Bring him home again ~*~

On the gravestone was inscribed:
Hiei Jaganshi Loved and Lost Died October 3, 2003
And, resting on it, was a lone tear gem.

~*~ Bring him home again ~*~

In spite of his tears, Kurama smiled; maybe it was because it gave him hope that Hiei was still alive somewhere, or maybe, it let him know that Hiei was watching over him. Either way, whatever the kitsune chose to believe, he could not change fate.
Ai shiteru…

Crystalline Entity: ::sobs:: OK… ::sniffs:: I was seriously crying when I wrote this. But, it's too short, once again. Anyway, read and review, onegai?
