Godric made his way through the damp cave, occasionally stepping in rat droppings and other suspicious looking substances. However he had no time to investigate the filth beneath his boots. His task was simple, go in, find the target, and capture it alive.
He was a hand to hand fighter so he only carried no weapons on him and he wore a full set of ebony armor. Besides there was no need for fighting yet, his presence had flushed all wild animals from the cave.
As he made his way down the last flooded passage Godric finally found what he was looking for. A large marble door with an eye engraved upon it. He counted six rings around the pupil, confirming it. The door pushed aside with ease.
Godric readied himself, his lord had given instructions to leave no survivors.
Gaius stood in the hall holding his torch, as always. He was the warden of the labyrinth, a one man prison designed to hold its inhabitant for an eternity. Though no one ever came through. If the monsters or goblins didn't scare away any trespassers, the fact that the prison was several miles buried into the earth ensured absolute solitude.
The only other guard in this section was a rookie, whose torch he could see flickering in the darkness. Finally the rookie's torch sputtered out .
"G-g-gaius!"
Damn rookies, afraid of the dark. They better get used to it, it's all they'll ever see down here.
"It's okay kid, I have a spare just come towards me." Gaius called out to him.
However he never saw the man approach from behind. He only felt the chill in the air and then the sensation of being lifted off the ground. His neck was broken quickly and Gaius' limp form collapsed to the floor.
Godric let the last guards limp body hit the ground with a thud. None had even proven a challenge to him, but that was to be expected. Who would have thought one man could enter a top secret prison kill all one hundred guards, and not set off a single trap. Godric searched the warden's body for the key to the room where the prisoner was kept.
The lock clicked open and the door opened with a loud groan, he stepped inside and let the door shut behind him.
