For Tonight And Always
Vince crept slowly across Howard's bedroom floor until he reached the bed. Pulling back the covers slightly he slowly moved himself to lie beside his best friend. This was a rather difficult maneuver to accomplish without wake the beady-eyed jazzman, as the bed was only a single. But as he pulled the covers back over himself his soul filled with love and familiarity.
Ever since they had decided to get separate beds Vince had been having terrible dreams every night. He would wake up in a cold sweat - terrified out of his wits. He never knew what the dreams were about but he always felt the ice-cold pain of loss and loneliness.
Every night Vince would sing himself back to sleep – "Cars" or some Bowie from the 80's. But he would still wake up from that terrible nightmare.
He couldn't cope with the dreams any longer.
As he started to snuggle up to Howard, an arm reached a cross and pulled him tighter. Now both Howard and Vince could have a peaceful sleep.
