Short and Sweet

Sometimes, Tenten lacked scruples. During the intervals of their training sessions at the Konoha's forests, the kunoichi would overwhelm him with artful questions, which required unsettling answers.

He would always try to hide his embarrassment, but the amused smirk on her lips indicated that it was useless.

"Neji, do you think I'm hot?" she playfully asked.

The Hyuuga shinobi, who was looking fixedly at a random point between the trees, took longer than usual to answer.

"If I say no, you'll get sad; if I say I'm neutral, you'll get mad; and if I say yes, I'll give you the wrong impression."

"So it's a yes."

"It's a yes."

Her insolence had crossed the respectable limits and unlimited patience had never been his strongest quality.

In addition to verbally affronting him, there was also that recently acquired obsession to cling onto his back and slide her hands underneath his shirt mischievously. Maybe he should respond accordingly for once in order to keep his reputation unshaken – a necessary self-contradictory statement, but one that could work nonetheless.

"You know," Tenten was laughing. "it's cold today and I want to warm my hands."

"Is that so?" he snapped sarcastically. "Then why don't you warm them inside my pants?"

The shock was so big (for both of them) that they remained silent for a while.

And in the end, she burst into laughter.

Useless.
