Immortality (Normandy Boots)
Left, right, left, right…
No longer alone, I am overcome
With relentless gusts of wind from every pressing blow.
My pristine stitching slowly unravels,
As many suns give way to many moons.
The brown, wet grime clings mercilessly to my sides,
Complicating my travels by weighing me down.
I am frightened by the damp, uneven muck beneath me,
Yet it provides a safe haven from the baking, crimson sand.
Within the moonlit sky emerges the unfathomable—
Clouds break and pelt the earth with deafening, silver hail.
My soles begin to shiver and I futilely attempt the impossible,
But all's for naught as the ground, my lifelong companion, betrays me.
I lay and reflect upon this recent past.
A numbing cold sensation grips me from inside, and I am lonely once more.
This lasts but only a second as fresh warmth envelopes me,
For as one journey ends, another begins.
Clean and mended, new like every time before.
Such is the way of my existence.
Transcending over time, for better or worse,
Immortality prevails.
Left, right,
Left…
Right…
