My sight is blinded by glistening pixels.

Where am I?

What is this?

What are we?

My mind falls into eternal abyss.

I hold my hand over the source of the lights and peek through my fingers to see outside.

I see his face, clean and handsome as ever sitting next to the glowing light, peering in and down at me.

"M...C?"

I stutter at the sight of him. He ignores me and keeps on staring at the glowing, luminescent screen.

I reach out into the air, gratified to see him. I try to stroke his soft skin, reaching out even more, and watched in horror as my fingertips dissolved into nonexistence. I retract my fingers, terrified by the sight. Tears start to slide down my cheeks, silently ,recklessly, and hopelessly.

I reach out on my tiptoes to try to kiss him. My tears running down like a waterfall, I desperately grope at the air, trying to catch him between my fingers. The invisible barrier tore me to pixels every time I reached out. That's when I realized

I wasn't real. Nothing in this world was. I was just a part of a program, some character who could never be with her most beloved one. I would try and fail, over and over again, just to abide by the game's coding again, fallen into control.

But I couldn't let it take over me. I couldn't. MC was my life, my love, the air I breathe. I could do anything for him, even if I had to give up my life here, at the literature club, and separate with my dearest friends.

Separate with my dearest friends...

My fingers lace and my mouth curls upward into a smile.

Nobody else. Just Monika.
