The Nighttime Visitor
by Snake Girl. A possible beggining to Book 5. I don't like it very much because it's the first Harry Potter fan fic i ever wrote, but whatever. Please review. Disclaimer: Nothing is mine, it's all J.K. Rowling's.
Harry lay on his bed, eyes staring blankly at the ceiling, thinking. He had only been at the Dursleys for a few weeks yet it felt like years. He knew that he had been acting strange lately, even his uncle had noticed.
"What's wrong with you boy?" he had asked in a harsh voice. "You haven't said two words all summer!" Harry had just shrugged and walked up to his room. How was he supposed to act? Voldemort had returned to power and Harry's own blood had helped him return to his body... Harry shut his eyes tight, as he always did, against the images that always sprang up with these thoughts. He wished again that he could be with Ron or Hermione. Then he would have someone to take his mind off the end of last year. This way, alone constantly, he had only their letters to console him. Not that they weren't sending letters. Harry was being bombarded with * letters constantly from practically everyone he knew. He had to spend most of his time writing, just to answer them all. Most of the letters were from Ron, Hermione, and Sirius, but Harry also got letters from Professor Dumbledore, Hagrid, the other Weasles, and to his delight, even a cheery note from Reamus Lupin.
Dear Harry, (he had wrote)
Sirius has arrived safely with me and has told me about everything that has happened. My consolations on your friend Diggory. For now we just have to wait for news on what is happening. I hope that Dumbledore will allow you to go to the Weasleys soon. I personally believe that you would be safer there than with muggles, but Dumbledore has his reasons. Please keep in touch,
~Moony
Harry still lying on his bed, sighed. He wished he had some news on what was happening * in the wizzarding world. Suddenly there was a strange tapping at his window. Harry turned his head, expecting to see Hedwig and jumped when he saw instead a grinning face pressed against the glass.
"Sirius!" he gasped, and ran to open the window.
Sirius climbed through the window and motioned for Harry to be quiet, a huge grin on his face. He took out his wand and muttered something under his breath.
"There! Now no one can hear us. How are you doing?"
"Okay, I guess, " Harry answered, still amazed at his Godfather being right there. "Why are you here?"
"I've come to take you away from here, Dumbledore's orders."
"But why...?"
" Listen quick, I need to tell you something." Harry became quiet. "Ever sense you came to this house 14 years ago you have been watched over by a witch who lives on this very street. Ever heard of Arabela Figg?" Harry nodded vigorously.
"You mean that's * Mrs. Figg?
"Yes. And she's been keeping an eye on you, and more importantly making sure that certain safety spells put on this house didn't get disturbed."
Harry didn't think that the Dursleys would like it if they knew that their house was covered in spells.
"Anyway, we're going there now and spending the night in safety."
"Safety?"
"Yes. We have just found out that Voldemort has broken through the safety spells. We hadn't thought that possible, but it happened. Even now we are in danger. Come on."
Harry and Sirius climbed out the window and lowered themselves to the ground, Sirius explaining to Harry that he was now allowed to do magic, even though it was the summer. They surreptitiously made their way to Arabella Figg's house.
Chapter 2
Harry lay himself down gently in the big down bed in Mrs. Figg's guest room. Sirius was curled up as a dog on the floor right next to his bed. Harry smiled at Sirius and thought about what would happen for the next few weeks.
