Mako gazed out onto the sea, wanting his ex-girlfriend to come back. It has been three days since he last saw her and terrible thoughts plagued his mind. He remembered the first time they met.
Flashback
"Bolin, what did I tell you about bringing your crazy fan girls before the match?" Mako asked as he slipped on his pro-bending helmet. "Sorry about my older brother..." Bolin began but Mako tuned him out. He never knew Bolin brought in the Avatar. Neither did Bolin. The two went out with their other pro-bending player as they began playing but his other team mate was not cooperating. After the game, they lectured him. "Wow, amazing moves Mr Hat- trick!" she began but Bolin started talking to her. "Can you teach me some of your earth-bending moves?" he heard Korra say. 'She's such a dumb ass! She can't earth-bend if she's a water- bender!' Mako thought as he grunted in annoyance. "Sure! But it might be hard for you." Bolin said. "Oh no it's no problem." Korra said. "Oh no, because of your water tribe get up and stuff." Bolin shrugged. "I can earth-bend." Korra said. Mako glued to the spot. He couldn't seem to move. 'WHAT?!' Mako thought and secretly looked over to her really quickly and turned his head back, facing the wall again. "I'm sorry, I'm confused." Bolin began. Mako was too deep in his thoughts to continue listening when he finally heard what Korra said. "Yeah. I can water-bend, earth-bend and fire-bend." she said as she crossed her arms casually. "Now I'm really confused." Bolin stroked his chin in a thinking position. "You're the Avatar and I'm an idiot." I said. "Both are true." she chuckled as Bolin said, "Whoa! It's the Avatar!" he whispered.
'Where are you Korra?' Mako thought and heard a grunt and flop in the distance. Mako ran towards the sound and saw Korra lying in the sand. "Korra!" Mako yelled as he ran towards her, happiness filling his heart. When he arrived, he was smiling like a madman. "GET AWAY FROM ME!" Korra yelled as she air-bent Mako, sending him back three steps. She stood up, anger rising in her eyes. "Korra wait!" Mako said. Korra stood her ground as she began to fire-bend Mako. "Korra! Stop!" Mako yelled back, defending himself. Korra stopped and slowly, Mako lowered his hands. "Why? Why did you rat me out to the president?" Korra began, tears welling up in her eyes. Mako looked down at his feet, guilt rushing all over him again. "I... I don't know." Mako mumbled.
"I just... please Korra, you have to understand!" Mako said as he slowly looked up to her. "Understand what?" Korra said as she crossed her arms. "Look, I'm really sorry I did that to you and I'm sorry I hurt you again. I realised that I hurt you even more than I did." Mako said, barely above a whisper. Korra wasn't convinced. "I was stupid to let you go. In my heart, I still love you. Breaking up with you... also broke my heart. Letting you go was a big mistake. So... I can understand if you don't want to be my friend ever again." Mako began but felt soft lips crash against his. He kissed back twice as deeply from the heart. "I still want to be your friend." Korra said as they broke away from the kiss. Mako smiled and leaned forward as he kissed Korra in the sunset.
