I look down to the forest floor beneath me, my heart pounding in my fluffy; white-furred chest. I felt fear creep throughout my body, I was terrified beyond recognition. Behind us; the hawk and I, I see my clanmates; Swiftpaw and Brackenfur hurdle after me. I open my mouth to let out a terrified screech, a scream I cannot hear myself; yet I know that my clanmates might have just been able to hear my yowl of sheer and utter terror. I curl my paws up closer to my body, I just wanted to be safe in the nursery with my mother; Speckletail.
I saw Brackenfur push himself higher, running twice as fast as he had been before. Swiftpaw chases after him, the two brave cats were following me? But then I feel the hawk's wings jerk and it flew up higher, higher and higher, until we were shrouded by the thick clouds that hung in the pale blue sky. I let out a small whimper of fear, what if it dropped me? I took the chance and looked down, feeling myself choke.
If I fell, it would be sure death.
I had no idea what to do, if I tried to twist myself out of the hawk's grasp, I would fall, fall through the puffy white clouds that dotted the periwinkle blue sky, free-falling at a great pace to the hard hard ground beneath, and obviously shattering my bones. I can feel the hawk lowering through the sky and out of the clouds, taking in a breath of much needed air, not knowing that I hadn't been exhaling. When I look behind us to the dense forest floor below, I knew that my clanmates had stopped trying to pursue me.
Feeling sadness mixed with my fear, I hung limply in the hawk's huge talons, knowing that there was no point in life anymore; if my own clanmates had stopped following after us. I felt the air vibrate around me and I looked up to see the hawk's beak open, perhaps in a screech of triumph and succession. I narrowed my eyes, if I died...I knew that I wanted to die an honorable death; a Warriors death.
I took a deep breath and looked back down at the ground again, slowly, I felt a wonderful and powerful sensation flow through my body, from the tips of my ears to the tip of my tail. I knew what it was. It was courage.
I opened my small pink mouth and bit down, hard on the hawk's foot. I saw it's eyes fly wide open with pain and I felt the claws loosening its grip around my body and felt myself fall through the open sky. I closed my pale blue eyes as I felt the wind around me whip through my fur and opening my eyes just slightly, I could see the brown shape of the hawk fly further and further away from me, noticing the wound I inflicted about it's foot.
I eventually slipped into unconciousness and the last thing I ever felt was searing pain as my bones probably broke into a million pieces. I laid there on the ground, I had died with a smile on my face. I died a Warriors Death.
