Zutara week day 7
Atla= Bryke
They traveled through the thick vines of the swampy land. It was hot, muggy, and downright miserable; their clothes weren't as thick as normal, they opted for lighter clothes for they knew where they were heading, but the humidity was almost impossible to get around. There was simply too much moister and it absorbed into their clothes, clinging to them like elbow leaches. Katara warned Zuko that slicing through the foliage though it would make for a quicker journey would result in the upsetting of the forest. He didn't believe her, what person would, but the look in her eyes told him she was serious so they marched on without emitting damage to the forest.
The suction of the muck and mud held their feet strongly, relenting only to give way to their determination long enough to let them raise a foot and let it plop down again. Yet they continue to trudge on. It was dark and they were miles away from where they should have been, the small bugs left to make room for the larger more treacherous beasts. Zuko insisted on using his swords to cut throw the dense vines but Katara held her ground. He tried to guilt her with, "but you owe me" and "we'll get stranded", but she refused to listen, eventually he gave up because she was notorious not only for her strong will but her short temper –one to match his own he conceded.
The time seemed to be going quickly, it was almost possible to watch the sun dropping through the trees (which brought no resolution to the heat), and still, it felt like hardly anytime had been made since they arrived at dock. The only time any of them had really stopped was to ride out the chills sent by the cacophonic screeching of that abominable little beast of a bird.
The dark was setting in and they still had many miles ahead of them. The environment was too sticky, too thick; it was steadily getting harder for the benders to fight off the vines. They would wind around Katara's leg, tripping her up. Zuko was to the point of burning down the whole forest; the continuous poking from a branch, tripping on a rock, or getting held back by those infernal vines. The more he struggled the more it seemed as through the forest held him back. The forest was holding him back. He knew better than to struggled but he was tired and frustrated so he trashed against the vines that were holding him captive.
Katara heard the struggle and rushed to his side, which only ended in her being caught as well. Slowly through the thrashing the vines managed to whine them together. They are too close to each other, the damp thick atmosphere maked them uncomfortable; that's why they are blushing and panting, because of the proximity. It was the vines fault that they are leaning into each other; it took too much energy to keep them up and not because Zuko desperately wanted to feel Katara's lips on his or that Katara wanted the same.
They were not to blame that as the sun went down and as they are still lost in the forest that they couldn't think of anything other than each other; they kissed away the stress of the day and let their surroundings consume them. For the first time that day neither minded being caught.
