The Betrayal

Disclaimer: I do not own Galactik Football and I make no money from this fanfiction.

Sequel to 'A Strange Friendship'…I blame the fact that I watched Zoolander yesterday for inspiring this.

Mei stormed into Artegor's office, far too angry to knock, marching up to his desk and staring him down.

"Something I can help you with?" he said, coolly. He had dealt with the Shadows for many years; he was pretty much immune to intimidation.

"I thought we were sort-of-friends! How could you betray me like this?"

"What exactly are you accusing me of doing?" He might have been more annoyed but he was genuinely confused.

"I just can't believe you didn't tell me about these," she said, slamming a load of magazines down on the desk.

Artegor flipped to the bookmarked pages, his face paling as he realised what Mei had uncovered.

"These are…" he whispered, horror creeping into their voice.

"Inspirational!" Mei cooed, practically on the brink of tears.

"Humiliating," Artegor said, at the same time. "How did you find my old modelling pictures? I thought everyone had forgotten about it."

"I was looking through the archives from fashion magazines past to get some inspiration from vintage and there you were! This shot was so powerful that I stopped dead in my tracks." She pointed to a black and white picture of Artegor posing dramatically.

He put his face in his hands. "Please say you haven't showed anyone else?"

"Well, Sinedd just happened to see…" she admitted, guiltily. She opted not to tell him that he had laughed solidly for about 15 minutes at Artegor's pictures- it wasn't her fault that her boyfriend knew next to nothing about fashion.

"Why?" he whined, weakly.

"Why did you take up modelling to begin with?" she asked, curiously. I mean it was clearly just an embarrassment to him; it didn't seem like his sort of thing at all.

"I…I needed the money," he said, desperately scrambling for an explanation.

"You needed money?" Mei asked, sceptically- he was a footballer from a famously wealthy family; she couldn't imagine what he could have needed that money for.

Artegor looked away; refusing to tell Mei the truth…the truth that was even more upsetting than the pictures themselves.

Mei patted Artegor on the shoulder. "You shouldn't be so embarrassed, lots of footballers model on the side, just look at Adium. Anyways, I'll see you some other time."

She walked off, hoping that that she hadn't damaged their strange friendship too much.

Artegor sat, looking miserably at the pictures Mei had left behind. Yes, Adium modelled too- that had been his reason for doing it in the first place, just one of many attempts to draw Aarch's focus from her and onto him.

He wasn't sure what was worse: remembering all the stupid things he did back when he was a teenager to get Aarch's attention or knowing that he'd do it all over again even now.

I have no idea how this turned into angsty Aarch/Artegor at the end there but oh well…Reviews much appreciated!
