The X-Men belong to MARVEL, so sadly, I own nothing.

You took my hand

You showed me how

You promised me you'd be around

Uh-huh, that's right

Logan.

His name bounces around inside my head, until he's all I can think of. His gruff voice echoes through my mind at night. His face haunts my dreams as I sleep, till he's all I can see.

Logan

I took your words

And I believed

In everything you said to me

Yeah-huh, that's right

He said that he would take care of me. Right before Magneto took me and ruined everything, he had told me that he would be there for me.

He promised.

If someone said three years from now

You'd be long gone

I'd stand up and punch them out

Cuz they're all wrong

Gone.

He was gone. He had taken care of me, kept his promise. As soon as he found out where I was, he and the others had rushed off to my rescue. But when they'd finally stopped Magneto, the machine had nearly killed me.

So what did he do? He gave me his healing; Logan had run and laid his ungloved hands on my bare face. Even after the he felt the pull of power signal that I was alive, he still didn't let me go.

In the end, Scott had had to pry him off me; I wasn't able to fight his touch.

I was still unconscious.

When I finally woke up, it was two days later, and I was back at the mansion. The Professor was at my bedside, waiting to tell me that I was fine, and safe. But then, I asked where Logan was.

"I'm…very sorry, Rogue. He's gone"

He had held me too long.

Well they knew better

Cuz you said 'forever'

And ever

Who knew

Author's Note:

Thanks a ton for reading! I know it's short, but it just came to me one day. I simply had to write it!

On a side note: to anybody waiting for an update on The Life and Times of Ivy Walker-Wayne, my muse for that particular story is currently on strike, so I'm trying to encourage her by writing other stories. In the meantime, I'll try my hand at one-shots and see if I have *lightbulb* moment.

Please review; Reviews are LOVE, people!
