She paced around frantically, picking up whatever she could get her hands on. She tore the throw pillows off the couch and used all her strength to lift the heavy object. She pushed the piece of furniture with all her might towards the plain white front door.

"Leave us alone!" she screamed as she raced back into the living room, gripping the coffee table to raise it up, giving her enough access to push the wooden desk across the carpet and behind the couch for support.

"Mom?" the little 9 year old boy's voice was full of worry as he came out of the room to witness his mother tearing the house apart.

"Spencer, get back in your room!" the woman screamed as she spun around and saw the child standing a few feet outside of his bedroom.

"Mom what's going on?" his voice wavered as he looked from his mother to the front door that was piled with furniture.

"They're coming, Spencer. We're not safe!" she ran to the bookshelf and began furiously pulling books off the shelf.

The little boy watched as his mother's breathing became heavy. Watched as the books flew from the shelf and onto the floor, he didn't know which thud was louder, the book's or the one in his chest.

"M-mom no one is coming. Let's just go into the kitchen and get your medicine." he stuttered trying to get the words out.

"They're already here! I don't need medicine. Medicine is their way of controlling my mind. They're trying to numb my brain so I can't think so I won't be prepared for when they come!" she yelled as the words came out fast. Not a single breath taken between them.

He shook his head "N-no" trying to deny what she was saying. He started to shake in fear as she pulled the last book off the shelf and got behind the wooden item, pushing with force till it started to scrape the carpet and move.

"No one is here!" he screamed in a panic. He just wanted the episode to end. She was so far gone.

The bookshelf made a loud crash as it toppled onto the table and couch. Diana quickly turned around and stomped over to her son. Grabbing his wrist she dragged him into the kitchen opening the grey door that led to the basement. He tried to pull away as she hauled him down the creaky stairs. Her grip tightened as they moved further into the dark basement, she sat him down in one of the corners of the room and knelt down in front of him "They won't find us here" she whispered.

He looked up at her with tears in his eyes. She rushed away from him and ran up the stairs, closing their only source of light and locking it. He began to whimper as the dark consumed him. "We're safe here" he heard her say.

Sniffling he wiped the tears from his eyes.
