"Get out of here, Ranger! That's an order!"

"No!" Mira knelt beside her fallen captain. "Buzz, I can't leave you like this." She looked fearfully at the blood pouring from the wound on his side.

"I've taken hornet blasts before. I'll be fine," said Buzz, gasping as pain wracked his body. "You have to get to safety. XR and Booster will be waiting on 42. Go to them and escape Planet Z before it's too late."

Mira shook her head stubbornly. "Not without you." She wrapped her arms around Buzz and pulled him up. "We're both going!" Activating her jetpack, the princess launched into the air, still clutching Buzz.

"Mira, look out!" The injured Ranger pointed to the fleet of hornets heading towards them.

"Don't worry, 42's just up ahead!" Mira stared into the sky, unmindful of the laser beams shooting past her. "We're going to make it! We're almost - ahh!" Burning pain coursed through her left arm.

"Mira!" Buzz paled when he saw her arm. A laser blast had ripped it open, and blood was oozing from the singed flesh.

"I'm... okay..." Mira forced herself to ignore the pain. It was growing more and more difficult to hold Buzz, and her injured arm was protesting vehemently at the extra weight it had to carry. But Mira stubbornly clung on. I can't drop him. I can't drop him. I have to do this. We're almost there. She gritted her teeth in concentration, willing herself to keep going.

"Hang in there, Ranger," coaxed Buzz. She looks like she's really struggling. I can't believe she's made it this far. She's an amazing woman.

"We're here." With one last burst of energy, Mira ghosted herself and Buzz through 42's hull. Once inside, she let go of him and collapsed against the wall, cradling her hurt arm.

"You did great, Mira," Buzz smiled weakly. "You saved my life. Thank you."

"I had to," Mira answered. "I could never leave you."

Author's note: I was in a bit of a Buzz/Mira mood, so I wrote this. It's not explicitly shippy, so I suppose I could have included it with my other oneshots, but I thought it was better on its own.

Not one of my best works, but it was fun to write.
