Hello there. My name is Malik Dekros...
And I'm dead.
xxx
Well...to be exact, I had a house dropped on me...and then another roof after that.
Collateral damage, I've been told.
Apparently, these two huge and ridiculously powerful dragons decided it was the perfect spot to duke it out near my humble and quiet village. There was also this huge war between the Three major Biblical Factions, but that's not important.
Anyways, back to the dragons.
Ddraig and Albion were their names. Bitter rivals. Hated each others' guts.
Now, I know what you're all expecting...
And no.
There was no resurrection for me.
No Devil there with a promise of a second chance in their peerage.
No Angel there to tell me how good of a person I was and that Heaven was waiting for me.
I went to Necron, where most of the dead end up. I was, after all, no one special.
No relation to any hero or being of legend and myth.
No secret blood relative of the Maous or any of the Gregori.
Though, I wasn't exactly ordinary either.
I dabbled in the supernatural myself.
I was a aspiring Magician.
To be exact, I was a Necromancer
And that caught the eye of someone very important in the Land of the Dead.

The Realm of the Dead, or Necron, is where 95% of the souls who died go. Ruled by the Lord of the Death, Hades, Necron is a purgatory where souls aimlessly wander for eternity. Never knowing peace, never knowing rest.
It was barren, empty, lifeless...
And so very boring...
Normally, souls would be ferried away by the ferryman, Charon down the River Styx to be judged. Those who were absolutely shitty in life were punished with a gruesome torture for all eternity, like Tantalus, or Sisyphus. The rest were carried to the main land, where they were to wander around forever.
This was to be my fate, until I met her.

She was the true Hades, overthrown by an imposter in her throne.
She had long flowing silver hair that reached down the middle of her back. Piercing yellow eyes glowed in the dim light of the torches the lined the various tunnels of Necron. She wore various pieces of black plate mail on her arms, waist, chest. hips, and legs. The face plate of a knight's helm sat on her head like a makeshift crown and spiked pauldrons were worn on her shoulders. She also wore thick armored boots and a royal purple shoulderless leotard. A long dark gray cape ruffled a bit behind her as she observed me with curiosity.
Hades was also on the short side, coming up to my chest and if you mentioned how small her boobs were, she'd drop you dead with a snap of her fingers.
She tilted her head at my body less soul and with a single touch, I gained my own body back...
Just like that.
I was awed at just how powerful this woman was.
Then again, she was the true Goddess of the Dead after all.
"You...are different from the other souls." She spoke after a long silence. Her voice was soft and quiet, almost gentle. "You have an affinity for the Undead." Hades reached up and placed a hand on my cheek. "I like that." She graced me with a gentle smile and nodded. "You will help me reclaim what was taken from me...Necromancer."
And without warning, before I could reply, Hades shoved her hand into my chest, imbuing my soul with powerful Necrotic energy, transforming me from a hapless spirit into an undead being.
A powerful pressure radiated throughout my body, a sickly feeling seeping into my very soul.
Through the Lady of the Dead, I was reborn as something beyond death itself.
Dead, but undying.
In that moment, I became the Herald of the True Hades.
I dropped to my knees as the Necrotic energy permeated in my veins and overwhelmed my senses.
Hades simply watched my transformation with an emotionless mask, as if judging my actions.
"Rise." She simply commanded,
It took all of my willpower to obey, and with shaking legs, I rose to my feet before my new mistress. "A-As you w-wish." I replied, fighting through the pressure that tried pulling me back to the ground with all it's might.
Her eyes widened a bit in surprise at my strength of will. Then a crescent smile curled across her lips. "Yes, you are the one, the first to survive my Gift of Undeath." She spun on her feet, her cape whirling behind her. "Come, we have much to do, My Herald."
Forcing down the pressure, I gain control of my sense again and quickly followed suit behind the goddess. "As you command, My Lady." I quickly said and followed close behind her.
We had a usurper to overthrow.
A/N: Hello everyone. Hello New readers and old.
I read a lot of Highschool DxD fan fiction and wanted to take a crack at it myself.
This is an idea I've been cooking up for a few weeks now and wanted to put it into a story before it left my brain.
Don't worry, chapters will be longer than this first one. I just wanted to get most of the exposition out of the way
Also, if you haven't realized while the canon Hades is inspired by Ains Oowl Gown from Overlord, my Hades is inspired by Euciwood Hellscythe from Is This A Zombie?
As tradition for a Highschool DxD fic, there will be a harem.
I'm still uncertain about pairings or who the main girl will be in the harem however. I am open to suggestions.
Please R&R. I always read my reviews and am open to constructive criticism.
~Kit
