This was written before I began the like-titled "The Twisted Blade," and is a poem that outlines Cloud's position in the original Kingdom Hearts (well...my take on it, anyways!) and follows the partner story and "Escape from Hollow Bastion." Please R&R! I know I've been dead for awhile, college'll do that, but I'm trying!

PS-- "Touched" by the Light = those chosen by the "good" side to survive and battle against the Darkness. Think Leon, Cloud, Aerith, Kairi and, of course, Sora. :)

The Twisted Blade

A score to settle; a debt needs paid;

A story dark; a twisted blade.

A fighter tall, that once was strong;

A Touched one fallen, his weapon gone.

And for that blade, it must be earned

The Darkness gone, the Light returned.

To save his world would be a start,

Though first he has to save his heart.

As he lay dying, his death undone;

A deal with Hell, a pact with none;

To kill a hero will prove his test

But can one be saved through another's death?

And if he's saved, will it be worth

The loss of Light, of life, of mirth;

Will he forfeit Light's good sense

And bring death to an innocent?

A deal with Hell; a pact with none

The deed still stands, and if it's done

He may just find that what he sought

Will fall slain with the ill he's brought.

For evil knows of his despair

The devil knows, and does not care.

For him to see his debt repaid

He, who wields the twisted blade;

He who searches for his friends

Set to further Darkness's ends

For him to ease the devil's price

To be saved, he must take a life

But if that life he truly takes

The Light will quiver in Darkness's wake.

And those that he had longed to find

Will wonder if he's lost his mind

The truth, though, (if the devil's right)

Is that this Touched has lost his Light.

That Light that he'll want to restore

And tap the Darkness never more

To do so, it will prove a trial

Without his friends, and in denial

He thinks he needs to get them back

And so, he must fulfill his pact:

His pact with evil, the deal with none

So he can see his debt undone.

A story dark, a debt unpaid

A warrior, a twisted blade;

And for this Touched who's plagued by strife

The Light and Dark will rule his life

Until he finds that which he needs

And puts behind him darker deeds.
