Jack, Daniel, Sam, Teal'c

Jack stands by the ramp to the Stargate and looks at his team. Everyone expected them to flop, the four who couldn't be any more dissimilar. There was the blonde, blue-eyed Captain Doctor Samantha "Sam" Carter; the dark-skinned, stoic alien Teal'c; and coming through the door five minutes late, the floppy-haired, bespectacled Dr. Daniel Jackson.

The girl, the traitor, and the geek. That was his team. And he was damn proud of them.

Daniel most of all. He'd lost his wife and his brother (no inlaws in Abydos, Daniel told him, just brothers and sisters and parents) in one fell swoop. But he didn't collapse, or panic, he joined SG-1 to look for them and maybe, somehow, save them. He was also rather better with a gun than Jack had really expected, even though he knew the scholar would only use it as a last resort.

But there was something else, too, along with the pride. Something he remembered with Sarah. Something he should not be feeling for his friend and teammate. His male friend and teammate.

The gate roared to life behind him.

"SG-1, you have a go."

SG-1. His team. He grinned, putting aside inappropriate thoughts, and ushered them through the gate.
