What if artemis's mom never left jail? What if she became a villain, just like dear old dad wanted her to?

What if?

"Mom's due out today." Artemis said to no one in particular, as she ate another bite of cornflakes. "And dad should be back around 7 with jade, for another night of training. Maybe I'll be able to join the shadows and not have to endure dad anymore." She mused to herself, shoving another spoonful into her mouth.

She gulped down the rest of her cereal, and put the bowl into the sink, washing it before putting it onto the drying rack.

She walked over to the closet and grabbed her jacket and bag before opening the door and leaving her apartment, ready to go pick up her mother. She smiled, excited to meet her mother again.

Today, after all those years! And dad wouldn't even be there. Business or something, was his excuse this time.

Artemis hummed carelessly as she jumped down the apartment's stairs, leapt out the door and sped-walked to the bus stop.

But before she even made her second block, she crashed into something.

"OWW!"

"WATCH IT! Oww…my head…" she grumbled, as she picked herself up, just a bit disorientated.

"Watch where you're goin! I have somewhere VERY important to be and-"artemis frowned at the boy talking in front of her.

"Well then, go. I'm not holding you back. Anyways, you were the one who slammed into me." And with that, she whipped her hair around and left, leaving the red-head to deal with himself.

Geez….guess this is why I can't wait to leave Gotham…get my own job…..have my own life…

Artemis smiled as she thought about all the things she'd be able to do once she got pay from the shadows.

She blinked, snapping out of her reviere and began jogging to the bus stop.

She checked her watch, and saw she was to be there in 5 minutes, so she picked up the pace, going to a slow sprint.

After finally dodging little old ladies and dogs with troublesome leashes, she finally reached the bus stop, just to see the bus on the bottom of the hill where the she was.

She smiled, inwardly jumping up and down.

Today would be a great day!

But, being a bit breathless from the sprint , she sat down on the bench the city provided, and sat back watching gotham's city life.

People running around…busses and cars whizzing from place to place…. Ah gotham.

One reason against her leaving it.

She'd be leaving her home.

She sighed and looked up when she heard the sounds of the bus stopping in front of her.

The doors creaked open, and instead of her mother being lifted out, the driver leaned out from his seat and handed artemis a letter.

"For you, from the warden." Was all the driver said, before spitting on the sidewalk, and shutting the doors.

"WAIT! Wait! What about…my mother." The bus had already sped off, leaving Artemis and the letter behind.

Ok…this is just a tester, and depending on how things go….

(And on how many reviews I get) I may or may not continue! ;)
