It had gone too far, too fast. Severus lost himself in the things that Harry had made him feel before he could catch himself.

"Harry, we need to talk," he said, looking at the young man in his bed. His hair was tousled from the...activities they had participated in the night before.

"What about, Sev?" Harry asked, causing a flinch in his older lover.

"Us, Harry," Severus said, standing and wrapping his dressing gown around himself. "We've been together less than a week and we've already lost ourselves."

"What do you mean?" Harry asked, sitting up. "Lost ourselves?"

"We got carried away when we had sex the night we got together. I'm sorry, Harry, but this has to end. We need to think about what we want," Severus said, walking over to the bookshelf, desperate to put space between himself and the young man. "You need to leave."

"Severus, what... I don't understand," Harry said, attempting to hide the pain in his voice.

"Harry, we moved much to quickly. I couldn't fight what I felt for you, and you gave in to what you were feeling. We jumped together in some way to attempt normalcy in an unfamiliar world," Severus said, his voice hollow. "There are so many things that I could take from you right now that you'd never second guess. I've taken enough."

"I'll give you whatever you want, Sev," Harry said, making Severus cringe again. "Just, don't leave me."

"Go, Harry," Severus said, his voice cold. He was fighting off tears that were threatening to spill.

"Fine," Harry said, not bothering to mask the sadness in his voice. "But I'll be back."

"Don't bother," Severus said, his voice like acid.

"Good-bye, Sev," Harry said, his hand resting on Severus' shoulder.

That familiar touch stirred something, causing the older man to turn and wrap Harry in his arms, kissing him deeply.

Harry was shocked by Severus' actions but eagerly kissed back.

Deep in Severus' mind, the thoughts of ever letting Harry go disappeared.

A/N: So, here's a crappy little one shot I threw together in, seriously, like five minutes. I guess it's loosely inspired by "Vindicated" by Dashboard Confessional. I suppose the whole regretting thing is like the chorus line, but other than that, I have no idea. The song spurred something, and here it is.
