Prologue
The sun set abruptly on Shinshuu plains, almost as sudden as the pleasant summer breeze had. While the rays dyed the land an unsettling red, not even the cicadas dared to chirp. All life in the field seemed to be holding its breath.
Then it came.
The sun dove beneath the sea, and the stars, just beginning to flicker alight, followed suit. In a short time, the heavens became a waterfall of cosmos, an unfathomable number of comets plummeting into the waters below.
Even the twelve Divine Constellations, like gems in an old crown, collapsed out of sight.
A miracle or a curse, a beginning or an end; It was a fantastic yet horrendous sight… had any seen it.
And just as no eyes looked to the heavens that night, there were none who saw the brightest meteor amongst all.
Its radiant glow challenged that of the sun. It fell slowly, as if it desired to remain in the heavens, brilliant tails clinging to the ether. But yet, its resting place was predetermined. To the ocean it descended.
However, just as the moon rose from the eastern hills, it veered off its course and plunged to the land below.
As flint strikes a fire, the star came down with a mighty blaze in its wake. The air itself parted for this white light majesty.
And yet, in this peaceful night, not one had witnessed the decline of a goddess.
