Sunrise at Horizon

Disclaimer: These characters are not mine. They are Fox Family's

Author's Note: This is my first fic. It's about Scott and Shelby after the MORP

Shelby woke up to see the bright sunlight pour into her window. She groggily sat up, ready to complain or comment on something, when she remembered last night. A smile formed on her before weary face.

*Flashback*

Shelby turned around from the meteor shower to see Scott coming towards her. They hugged and embraced just like couples do after they haven't seen each other for twelve hours. After they had broken apart, Shelby finally forced out the words she had been longing to say.

"Why'd you come back?"

Scott's answer was a dream come true.

"Because...Because I love you."

*End of flashback*

"It had to have been a dream," Shelby thought to herself. "When I wake up, Scott's sill going to be with his dad, and I'll be all alone." But she knew in her heart that it was real. She looked at her watch, 6:30. "Wow, I don't remember the last time I woke up at 6:30." Shelby decided she'd take advantage of this.

She quietly got off her bed and pulled a pair of jeans and a light blue t-shirt out of her trunk. She then changed out of her pajamas into her clean clothes. Then, she pulled a brush through her long, blonde hair and put her hair up into a high ponytail. After she had pulled shoes on, she headed outside into the warm sunshine.

Scott awoke to the sound of a door slamming. "It's coming from the girls' dorm", he thought to himself. He was about to go see if it was Shelby when reality hit him. "Yeah, like Shelby would be up at 6:30." Shelby was always trying to extend sleeping hours so why would she be up now? "Still, wouldn't hurt," he thought.

He rolled out of bed just in time to see a flash of blonde go by. "Oh my God, it's her," he whispered. She was so breathtaking. She was the most beautiful thing he had ever encountered.

"Shelby," he whispered. Shelby then turned around and smiled widely at him.

"Hey there stranger," she said in a sexy whisper.

Scott knew he was grinning like an idiot but he couldn't help it. She had that effect on him.

"Hey, give me a sec. I'm going to change real fast."

"I'm giving you two minutes," Shelby ordered jokingly.

"Okay, hold on." Scott then disappeared in the cabin. After he had changed, he cockily looked in the mirror, flexing his muscles. Shelby then rolled her eyes.

"Come on Cowboy, you know you look good."

Scott felt a slight blush creep up his neck. "Ya think?"

Shelby smirked. "Don't flatter yourself."

Scott didn't have time to make a comeback because Shelby was already pushing him out the door.

"It's so beautiful," she whispered to Scott.

Scott looked down at the gorgeous woman lying in his arms. "You've really never seen a sunrise before?" he asked.

Shelby replied with a whack on his head. "Yes, I have seen a sunrise before, but not at Horizon. It's the most beautiful time of the day. The birds aren't chirping and the bugs aren't buzzing. And there's no annoying students running around. It's just silent. But yet, you can hear a beautiful sound just from listening to the silence of the nature." she stated.

Scott smiled at her, and she at him. It was just them and the beautiful interlocking colors of the sunrise and the bountiflu gift of nature. And for a moment, they forgot about all the problems and stress of the world they lived in.
