Clares POV
"You're the reason why this entire family is falling apart! Don't think I don't hear you coming home late at night with the smell of beer and cigarettes!" I could hear my mom yelling at my dad while my dad probably just sat there ignoring her, that would be a problem for him later when my mom realizes he wasn't listening.
I don't want to be here for that in fact I don't even want to be here now. That's when I took out my phone a dialled Eli's number, he's there only one who knew about my parents and he always makes me feel so much better.
"Hello?" Eli's voice was the best thing I've heard all day!
"Hey, Eli do you think we could hang out?"
I must have sounded pretty sad because he then said "Sure, Clare is everything ok?"
"I don't know my parents are fighting again and I need a distraction."
"Ok I'll be there in five" we both hung up after that.
I looked outside to see that it was really cloudy out looks like the park is out of the picture for places to go. I quickly put on a pair of jeans and a T-shirt and then looked outside my window to see a black hearse.
I grabbed a sweater and ran down stairs; I got out of the house without my parents even noticing. I stepped out my front door and saw Eli standing there holding my door open, I got in and then he shut the door and walked over to the driver's side of the car and got in.
"So where are we going?" I asked
"How about the park" he said
I was about to say that the weather was definitely not good enough to go to the park but then I looked out the window and said "Wow. What happened to the cloudy weather? It looked so miserable less than five minutes ago!"
"Maybe I brighten up your day" He said with his signature smirk.
I love that smirk, it always makes me smile even when I don't want to smile but in this case I was all up for smiling.
"See I put a smile on your face" He was right if there was anyone who could make me feel happy it was Eli I'm glad I called him.
We then arrived at the park; we both go out of the car and then went to the swings.
"So have you finished the English assignment Ms. Dawes assigned Thursday?" He looked at me with a confused look on his face "the one where we had to write about our favourite childhood memory."
"I know what you're talking about Clare, I just didn't think you wanted to talk about English"
"Ok then what do you want to talk about then?"
"Well who said we had to talk about anything?" Now I was confused, what were we supposed to talk about?
"So we'll just sit on these swings and do nothing?"
"Here" he said as he got up he took my hand and lead me to the middle of the field.
We lay there looking at the clouds some of them sad and some funny. It felt like minutes we'd been there but I looked down at my watch to see it was eight we'd been there for hours, the sky wasn't too dark yet because it was summer, my parents might be wondering where I am by now.
I looked over at Eli and said "We should probably get going my parents might be wondering where I am" He didn't complain He just said ok and we got in the car ad left.
We arrived at my house, I got out of the car and so did he, he walked over to me and said "I hope you had a good time."
"It was great it,definitely took my mind off things" I said, I smiled and then turned around to go inside my house but he grabbed my wrist and pulled me around and kissed me. We parted for air and now I really had to go my parents were probably at the window watching us. I smiled and walked to my door and turned around to wave goodbye and thought this was the best day ever.
