"Carlisle, I don't know what to do anymore. The more I try and help him, the more he backs away and cuts me out of things. He wouldn't even let me take her to the store this morning." Tears were threatening to spill over. I was at the end of all my options and we both knew it. If I pushed him any further, there's no knowing what would happen next.
I walked over to the bed and settled in the middle of it, waiting for Carlisle to finish up in the bathroom. He strolled in a few minutes later and I could see the stress in his eyes. It was painful to see. He used to be so close to him, but over the months, their bond had begun to thin and now they hardly spoke.
"Darling, I can only do so much for him and half the time that's without him knowing. I'll look into any more options after the guests have gone," he replied in a soothing tone as he snuggled up behind me and wrapped his arms tightly around my waist.

They would be coming in a few days and to be honest, I couldn't wait.
It was now the tourist season, so they would all keep me busy, not letting my mind wonder too far into painful memories.
