Title: Remorse and Much More
Author: Davael
Pairing: Slight Yoh/ Manta
Rating: PG
Author's Note: Angst and strangeness. I'm not actually big fan of angsty writings. I'm more into those happy-sappy endings. Oh well…

For the first time in his life, Yoh wished that he wasn't a shaman. That he wouldn't be able to see ghosts.
He stood there, staring across the cemetery, his brown eyes surprisingly empty.
Anna and Amidamaru had both thoughtfully left them alone. Yoh was thankful for that. It was hard enough already.
The silence was suffocating.
Finally Yoh became aware of movement next to him. Manta stared up to him sadly.
"It wasn't your fault, Yoh."
Yoh gulped, and stifled the urge to close his eyes.
"I should have been able to do something."
"But you couldn't. And that's it."
Manta's voice was oddly emotionless.
"Are you going to stay here?" Yoh asked.
Again, a moment of silence.
"No."
Yoh turned around wildly, raising arms in a pleading gesture.
"Wait! Manta, please! Don't go! You know you can stay with us! You're my best friend!"
Yoh´s eyes hold Manta's for a second, old tears staining his cheeks. He knew it wouldn't help, it was pointless, but he had to try, he had to hold on…
Manta smiled at him.
"And I will always stay that way…Yoh."
His voice faded.
"Manta!"
A soft light surrounded Manta.
"No! Please!"
A feathery touch against Yoh cheek.
"I-"
And all was silent in the cemetery.
"I love you."
Yoh stood there, alone now.
And then, finally, he dared to look down at Manta's gravestone.
