"Jack! Honey, please hold on!"
"Dad, please don't leave! Dad!"
The pleas of a mother and daughter resonates throughout Forget-Me-Not-Valley. Celia, the mother, holds her departing husband's hand as he gasps for breath upon his bed. Mira, Celia and Jack's only child, sits beside her mother, tears stinging her cheeks.
The only other person there to witness this is Dr. Hardy. Yes, Dr. Hardy has seen many people pass on, but even he can't hold back tears as he watches Jack lose grip on life.
"Thank you," Jack manages to whisper to the lamenting group. "I'm just glad that you are all here beside me before I die."
"Don't you dare talk like that!" Mira cries. "I don't want you to leave!"
Jack smiles, his wrinkles seeming to disappear for a moment. He looks young for just a moment as he smiles and caresses his daughter's cheek.
"It's time Mira," he says. "I have to move on." Jack now rests his hand beside him again. He looks over at Celia, his still beautiful wife. Age hasn't done much to her, only graying her hair a bit. Jack tightens his hold on Celia's hand and smiles once more.
"Don't cry darling," Jack says. "It happens to everyone."
Celia manages to smile back. "Yes, but you shouldn't have to leave us so early." More tears flood from Celia's eyes.
Jack glances back up at the ceiling. He closes his eyes.
"I will always love you both. Forever," Jack whispers. His grip on Celia's hand lessens.
"Dad, Dad!" Mira screams. "Wake up!"
Suddenly, the bedroom door opens and an old man rushes in.
"Takakura, he's already gone," Dr. Hardy says to the old man. "You just missed him."
Takakura flinches a bit and frowns. "I knew I'd be too late to say good-bye."
"He died peacefully though," Celia says, wiping her tears away.
Mira stands back up and looks back down at the body of her father.
"You've made me the proudest father ever Mira."
"It's not fair!" Mira cries. "Why did Dad have to go?"
"You'll always be my little girl."
"He didn't do anything wrong, but he still died so early!"
"You're just like your mother: beautiful and kind."
"Everyone loves him! No one wants him to leave!"
"Mira, stop it already!"
Mira stops herself from saying anything else and turns to Celia. "Mom?"
Celia's angry expression changes to a soft, solemn look. "Jack wouldn't want you to act like this Mira. Control yourself."
Mira stares into her mother's hazel eyes for a moment. Realizing how she over-reacted, Mira keeps her eyes on the ground.
Celia comes beside her daughter and places a comforting arm around her.
"We'll run the farm together. In Jack's honor."
Mira looks up at her mother and smiles. "Yes.
Author's Note: Hullo! I'm back. I hope to start updating more soon since I've been on summer break. The reason I wanted to do this fanfic is because I have been playing Harvest Moon AWL: Special Edition a lot more than usual. This is actually based off my game (except Mira is still only a toddler). Since the game only tells you a little bit about what happens after you die (and then you go to Heaven mode), I thought I'd write what I thought would happen to my family. I don't know how long this will be. Well, hope you enjoyed and please feel free to leave a comment. Ciao!
