Hey guys! It's me, Venturian Girl! So, I'm sorry I always leave. I'm so bad at staying caught up with things. So, right now all my fanfics are postponed. I'm so sorry.
Anyway, in my English Language Arts class we are reading a book called The Graveyard Book. It's quite good, though it doesn't compare to our previous book, The Outsiders. Anyways, today we had to rewrite a scene, specifically the one where Bod and Scarlet go adventuring and meet the Sleer. My teacher told us to change the setting.
I took a darker twist on this and did a Nazi concentration camp. I'm sorry if this offends anyway, it was simply a class project.
Disclaimer: Does it look like I wrote the Graveyard Book and Coraline? I'm too afraid to read them, much less write them. Go search for Neil Gaiman.
It would be tricky, but the two children would risk it. A life in a concentration camp is worse than death, after all.
Cloaked in darkness, Bod led the way. Scarlet didn't know how, but Bod seemed to lead the way without any troubles, even in the darkness of the night.
They marched on through the mud, swiftly escaping the bright light from the towers. With shoes of mud, the pair journeyed through the grave night.
Bod had remembered how the pair had got there. The two friends had been snatched up by the Nazis last winter, when they had found out that Scarlet's family had been hiding Bod, who was a Jew.
Scarlet's face lit up with a broad smile. She looked to her right to see a goofy grin on his face as the large gate neared them.
Then it was all over. The sound of combat boots hitting the mud echoed the empty courtyard. The pair stopped in their tracks as Commander Sleer, with arms on his hips, halted.
"Halt!" he commanded, voice deep and rough, "I guard and protect this place. You can not escape."
Bod squeezed Scarlet's hand. "Run," he said simply.
And so they ran, going towards the other exit as the alarms began to sing their loud anthem.
In the dark of the night, the pair slipped past the guards and eventually, made it to freedom.
"We made it, mutti," Scarlet replied as the pair swiftly ran away in the darkness.
