A/N: So this is part 2 of my series of stories (my last was a one-shot) about what Neville and his family/friends would do if he inherited Harry's fate, and were put in some of the situations he was in. I may consider doing a few variations of this chronicle of Neville's life, but today we pick up where Neville and his best friends family were through the barrier to platform 9 ¾, and he was locked out. I decided to keep the Weaselys the same, despite the character choice this throws into the story. Wow. That was long.

Neville Longbottom was having a good day. He had been spending the last 2 weeks of the summer with his friends, the Weaselys. He was on his way to Hogwarts for the second time and was fairly happy about it.

He had spent much time packing for the occasion, as he had been mocked for the better part of the previous year (after they got over his fame), for forgetting things (that and having a toad).

His best friend Ron's entire (enormous) family had gone through the barrier to platform 9 ¾ already, minus Ron.

This in itself was an obstacle until you got used to it. You see, you must get a good head of steam going, and run into the brick wall dividing platforms 9 and 10. The barrier should let any wizard through.

As neither friend enjoyed this much, and Neville was downright afraid of it, they were fighting as to which one should go first.

"Y-you first," said Neville shakily. Neville could be the bravest person you ever met about some things, and the biggest coward about others.

"Oh no, I insist," exclaimed Ron.

After a few minutes of this, they were to the point where they would miss the train if they went much longer. They finally came to the agreement that Neville would go first through the barrier.

Neville pushed his trolley back a few paces, and began to run at the barrier. Just as he thought he was going to penetrate the barrier and get on the train, he hit the bricks with a loud crash!

"Neville!" Shouted Ron, "what did you do?"

"…Ouch" moaned a dishevelled Neville as he got up.

After Neville got up, collected Trevor the Toad, and Orville the Owl (Neville had just purchased him in Daigon Alley a few days ago) they began speculating as to what was wrong.

"The barrier must have sealed itself!" cried Ron.

"That's Just the kind of thing that would happen to me," Moaned Neville "But it's too late now anyway; the train's left."

After the train left, there was no way it would come back for any student. Not even the famous Neville Longbottom.

The two boys were bright enough to realise this, and began to think of an alternate route to Hogwarts. They thought about brooms, but neither had one. They also considered writing an owl, but felt that would take too long. After a short while of this they came to a solution they both liked; their wands.

A/N I had previously said that this would be a one shot, but I think I will continue for a short time more. Sorry for the incredibly short chapter by the way. Feel free to R&R, but please be nice.
