Carissa stared at the body that lay on the ground in front of her. The horrible reek of the smell drifted to her nose and she gagged in disgust. One of the other detectives looked at her with a grin.
"Getting sick, newbie?" He taunted. She shook her head and straightened her back, forcing herself to take small, shallow intakes of breath. He laughed and walked to the body, forcing her to follow behind him like a lapdog. Since this was only her second murder, she was still learning things. She was friends with the mayor, allowing her to get insight into the cases. But she wasn't the only author on the scene. Richard Castle looked up at her as she kneeled next to him.
"Just ignore him, Rissa. He's just teasing you." She nodded and quietly watched Richard. His brown hair looked like he'd just woken out of bed, but most of the cops here did. Herself, for example, had been woken up an hour earlier. The body had been found under the bridge by a homeless woman. The said woman was huddled under a blanket talking to Esposito and Ryan. She looked like the she was going to burst out crying with all the questions the two were asking her.
"I'm gonna go talk to the woman, OK?" Rick nodded and looked up at Beckett silently. She walked over to the woman, knowing that if she didn't the feelings she felt for Rick would show.
"I-I don't know h-how any of t-this happened..." The woman looked up with tear filled eyes before sobbing into the blanket. Carissa sighed and looked at Ryan.
"I got it. Go talk with Beckett." Ryan nodded and looked at Esposito. They both walked off, leaving Carissa alone with the homeless woman. "Ma'am?" The woman sniffed quietly and looked up at Carissa with shiny green eyes. Carissa's violet eyes showed only kindness, enough to calm the woman down. Carissa smiled at her. "I'm Detective Carissa Lombardi." The woman nodded.
"I've heard of you. You wrote that book, 'Injustice'." Carissa nodded.
"I did. Now, can you tell me if there was anything else you saw?"
