AN: When I submitted my last FMA-fanfic, someone reviwed and told me that I should make a series (Thank you Emma Gold. It was you who encouraged me). It took some time, but here is a part two...-ish thing. It is not about Roy and Ed, but Roy and Riza (there might be another Roy/Ed story. I just have to come up with something suitable.)
I hope you like it.

Riza Hawkeye was standing in Roy Mustangs hospital room and looking out the window. It had been raining for a few hours now and the half wrecked city outside had taken on a color of dingy grey. If she had been poetic, she would not have hesitated to describe her mood in the same sense. But she wasn't. Riza sighed.

"Tired, Hawkeye?" Mustang asked her from his bed. His eyes were covered with a bandage.

"Not at all, sir", she answered, not moving an inch. None of them spoke for a couple of minutes.

A nurse came in.

"Dr. Marco wishes to tell you that you may remove the bandage tomorrow, and that your eyesight then should be fully recovered, sir", she said with her head held down. Roy turned his head against the sound and smiled.

"Thank you, miss", he answered. The nurse left again, there was silence.

"Describe the weather to me", he suddenly commanded Riza.

"The sky is blue and the sun is shining. There´s not a cloud on the sky", she answered without hesitation. There was no need to make the Colonel more moody than he already was. Roy chuckled.

"Liar", he said. "I can hear the rain".

Hawkeye turned around.

"Then why did you ask me?" Her voice was stern.

He shrugged.

"I didn´t like how quiet you were".

Riza gazed down on the visible part of his face, as if she was trying to detect something. But all she could see was his half hearted smile.

"Are you all right, Colonel?" she asked him a bit concerned.

"I´ve been blind for a week, waiting for someone to rebuild the hospital, so that I could get my eyes back. And now I have been waiting four more days for my eyes to get used to the light, by taking of more bandages every day, which leads my days as blind to a total number of eleven. No, Lieutenant Colonel Hawkeye, I´m not all right. I am bored".

He was not angry, but she could tell from the tone in his voice that he was trying to fool her, like he had been doing for years.

"Is there anything I can do for you, Colonel, to lighten up your mood?" she asked, pretending to be dead serious.

"There is", he answered made himself more comfortable."Continue telling me about the weather. What´s going on in the outside world?"

Hawkeye frowned.

"About the rain?" she asked skeptically. Roy shook his head.

"About the sun", was all he said.

Riza smiled and turned to the window once again.

"As I said", she started. "The sky is blue; the sun is shining and there´s not a cloud on the sky. People have beginning to return to their homes, and some kids are playing on the grass".

Mustang sighed.

"Sounds nice", he said quietly. Riza kept quiet for another couple of minutes. Then she turned to the door.

"I must go now, Colonel" she said quietly. "I will come back when I am finished with today's paperwork".

Mustang nodded.

"Thank you", he said just as she was about to exit the room.

"For what?" she asked, hand on the doorknob.

"For the lies", he answered before he turned his face against the wall.

"Always, Colonel".

When she stepped out of the hospital and into the rain, she felt everything but dingy and grey. She felt like if the sun was out, and everything was fine.
