Chapter One.
Vesper's hands trembled as she opened the pregnancy test, she was eight days late.
Making sure James was out of their three bed roomed terrace house first, Vesper carefully read the instructions and did exactly what the writing on the paper told her to do. Vesper didn't know what she was hoping the outcome to be, the test could say either negative or positive. All she knew was that this was going to be the longest three minutes she would ever have to wait.
Vesper left the pregnancy test on the coffee table in their front room while she paced up and down anxiously waiting for those three minutes, of which could change her life, to be over.
Finally, those dreaded three minutes were over and Vesper slowly walked over to the coffee table and picked up the test. Before looking at the test Vesper closed her eyes, took a deep breath and told herself that whatever this test says everything would still be ok one way or another. Looking down at the pregnancy test, in her hands, there was, sure enough two dark pink lines in the result window.
Vesper fell to the floor feeling so overwhelmed by what the this test had just told her, 'how can a little white stick just change your life like that' she thought. With her head in her hands Vesper was wondering what and how she was going to tell James that he is now about to become a Father. In fact how would James even react. James was part of the MI6 he would in no way what so ever want this to get in the way of his career. Vesper on the other hand, after she had processed the thought of having a baby in her mind, was now sort of delighted and excited to be carrying what would be a part of both James and her, but she couldn't help but feel nervous too as she wasn't prepared for this at all.
Vesper had finally decided that she was going to have to tell James the 'news' that night, after he got home from work. James was on another mission for the MI6, as, after all James was M's best agent.
Vesper had decided that she would cook James a delicious homemade dinner. She was going to cook a rack of lamb with some Yorkshire puddings and roast potatoes and a few roasted vegetables thrown in there too for him, where, then she would announce what she hoped would be good news. At least eventually.
Vesper was just laying out the cutlery when she heard the front door open and close,
'Vesper, I'm home darling' James shouted from the hallway before entering into the kitchen.
His eyes landed on the table that was set.
'what's all this for?' James asked curiously.
Vesper didn't reply just gave him an awkward kind of smile and told him to sit down. James, of course, did what she asked but sat down rather cautiously wondering what was going on. This big, fancy meal was all abit too suspicious for him. Vesper picked up the big silver plate with the rack of lamb on it and set it in the middle of the table before going back to go get their plates with the vegetables, yorkshire puddings and roast potatoes on.
James picked up his knife and fork and went straight for the lamb,
'Vesper this is delicious, and you know rack of lamb is my favorite!' James exclaimed.
Vesper just smiled nervously back at him, set down her knife and fork, and cleared her throat before saying
'James, I have something to tell you'.
'Yes? What is it?' James asked, his playful smile had disappeared now and his face began to look more serious, trying to read what Vesper was going to say somehow.
In which Vesper tried to put into words carefully
'Well, James, you see I am eight days lateā¦'
James could see where this was going
'So I thought it was best if I...well...you know...do a test, just to make sure though, but...look...it...it...well it came out positive' Vesper had told him, her voice shaking.
'So what we're...' James' voice trailed off
'Yes, we're pregnant' Vesper filled in the blank word for him, not sure on how he was going to take this news.
