"Why would you want an annoying couple habit?" Misaki laughed as Tsubasa sulked beside her. "Aren't you and Natsume—and I 'm quoting you—'at a comfortable, casual but sweet-enough level?'"
"I didn't say I wanted an annoying habit, and we are. But...I don't know. I wish we were more..."
"Romantic? Emotional?" Misaki snickered. "I thought Natsume was the uke."
Tsubasa, a bit too down to protest, sighed. (He did later on, though, after he'd resolved the problem.)
Natsume was sitting on the bed with a book when Tsubasa arrived at his dorm that night. "Hey," the Black Cat greeted, barely looking up from his novel.
"Hey," echoed Tsubasa, shedding his blazer, "Are you sleeping over?"
Natsume nodded, shutting his book closed and placing it on the bedside drawer. He was headed for the bathroom. Tsubasa followed suit. Natsume stared up at him, a toothbrush in hand. "What's wrong?" Natsume had noticed the senpai's glumness.
"Nothing," Tsubasa grabbed his toothbrush as well.
Natsume squeezed some toothpaste onto both their toothbrushes. After a few seconds of brushing their teeth, Tsubasa's eye widened, and he stopped. He stared at the mirror, where he had seen himself and Natsume moving almost simultaneously. He turned to the younger. "Nathume," he said, his mouth filled with foam, "We brush our teeth."
The crimson-eyed boy blinked at him, and nodded.
"Evewy time you come ower, we do it together," Tsubasa continued, looking excited.
Again, Natsume nodded. Tsubasa suddenly hugged him.
"We have a thing! A weird couple quirk!"
Natsume choked on his toothbrush in Tsubasa's enthusiasm. The senior pulled it out and apologized, and Natsume forgave him and decided not to ask. Tsubasa slept with a smile on his face that night.
