Yesterday I re-read all the reviews and comments on the work I have online, and through those comments and opinions I have been inspired to write this piece. Its another fanfic from Sam's POV, because you never get anything from that, and my first attempt at this style got some positive feedback.

So this is just a little bit from Sam's POV, an excerpt from his Book of Shaddows which deals with the circle at Evelyn's house, the first one Alicia was aloud to lead. Hopefully it will make sense to people, and won't be too bad, but I haven't written anything in months so I'm a little bit out of practice.

Disclaimer: I don't own Sweep or any of the related characters.

I never thought I'd see this happen, after all the hassle we'd gone through since Alicia turned up here, and after the less-than-welcome greeting Evelyn gave her when she arrived. But going to the circle today, it was beautiful, and I really got a chance to see the power my niece has. She truly is her mothers daughter, though I don't think she really knows how much. Her and Evelyn are amazingly alike too though, which is something I wasn't expecting. Nearly as much as I wasn't expecting their reactions to each other today. But then I suppose I can understand, having seen what I saw when she stepped out into the circle.

She was wearing Sarah's robes and using her tools. I know I should feel weird about my sisters things being brought out like that and re-used by someone else, and I know I should feel resentment towards Alicia for the fact that it was her who got that benefit. I always assumed that they would stay in their place, or that if anyone was to have them it would be Bridget. But it wasn't, it was Alicia, and if anyone was to use them again then I'm glad it was her. After all, someone's personal possessions always seem to hold something of them, I'm a firm believer in that, and if anyone would have been right for the tools then it would be her. After all, the blood connection between mother and daughter is the strongest there is, so much stronger than distant cousins. I'm glad she got the chance to own those things of her mothers. She deserves it.

Another strange thing about this circle, the fact that Evelyn let Alicia cast it. I didn't ever expect to see it happen, because we always assumed it would be Bridget's mother who would leave after Evelyn, and she's never even been aloud to cast the circle. Even when Evelyn is feeling not up to it really, she still manages. I guess it might have just been her little way of letting Alicia know that there was no hard feelings between them, but to be perfectly honest, I'm starting to suspect that Alicia might be asked to lead Ronseál at some point in the future. I don't know about anyone else, but that's just the feeling I have. And I'd be happy to work under her, because I can already tell that she's going to be extremely powerful and a strong person. I just can't wait to find out how she turns out.

Sam.
